“Dr. Ockie Lampen has a particular interest in high-risk obstetrics and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Lampen is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. He received the Lloyd Capling Award in 2017 for service to the Ridge Meadows community. In 2015, he performed the first laparoscopic hysterectomy at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

2025 Update: Dr. Lampen passed the LMCC exams and obtained full licensure from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. I highly recommend Dr. Lampen if you’re looking for a competent and personable OB/GYN. His colleague Dr. Mentz was my care provider for my prenatal check ups, also amazing, and Dr. Lampen performed my emergency c-section a few months ago due to my baby being breech at the last minute. Dr. Lampen made me feel very comfortable considering I was having an emergency c-section. He explained his experience to us and with his cheerful attitude made me feel well taken care of. My care provider Dr. Mentz, that I had during my prenatal check ups was on vacation and Dr. Lampen was the OB/GYN on call the day I had my c-section. It was my first time meeting Dr. Lampen the day of my surgery and he exceeded all my expectations. You’re in good hands with both Dr. Mentz and Dr. Lampen.

Dr Lampen is the best I have seen, he delivered my son in 2020 by c-section and he always took the time to answer questions even if I felt they were dumb. When I had issues with my incision after he fit me in to be seen no questions asked. I enjoyed seeing him so much that I saw him during my second pregnancy as well and will continue to see him for follow up and when we decide it’s time for our third baby. His office staff is wonderful and I always get a response in a very timely manner. I will recommend him to all my friends and family.

I had surgery with Dr Lampden in November and he and his office are amazing. They always return my calls promptly and keep me in the loop. Dr Lampden explained everything clearly to me so I was comfortable going into the surgery. We had to reschedule due to the chaos that happened Nov 15/21 weather wise and they fit me quickly and made sure I was taken care of.

I highly recommend Dr Lampen. I first started going to him to him 10 years ago. He is very understanding, takes the time to explain and very gentle. - N Reply

DR. RICK MENTZ - RIDGE MEADOWS OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY REVIEWS

Dr. Mentz was my OB throughout my entire pregnancy and I would highly recommend him and use him again. Dr. Mentz is the guy you want in your corner if anything goes wrong! I was very fortunate that he was on call when I went into labour. He made me feel very comfortable and safe through the entire process. I ended up having to have an emergency c-section and Dr. Mentz delivered my son quickly and safely. Bonus points that his detail to stitches is superb and I healed very quickly.

Dr. Mentz provided care for me after a complicated miscarriage and performed my D&C. He was also my care provider for my next pregnancy. I felt very heard and respected at all of my visits. I have a lot of anxiety, and Dr. Mentz always put me at ease. His bedside manner is excellent. If I decide to have another baby, I will definitely be going back to Dr.Mentz for care.

He did my hysterectomy and was absolutely amazing..he’s the first male dr I’ve ever had in my life and he was so helpful and answered all my questions and concerns before and after my operation..came in room day after it and was super amazing..I highly recommend him.

Extremely happy with Dr. Ruth Vilayil. She listens to my concerns. Gave me all options and helped me decide what was best for me. Not once did i feel like i wasn't heard. She listens and is compassionate. Even as i was nervous going under anesthesia she was encouraging and supportive. She cares about the person as a whole. Is friendly and happy towards me. I am thrilled with my experience and how she follows up as well. She listens well to her patients and will even laugh with them! Highly recommend Dr. Vilayil. Very knowledgable and wise.

Dr. Vilayil is an excellent and dedicated doctor. She was the on call gynaecologist when i was brought to ridge meadows hospital in critical condition and she did the wonderful job.The dedication ,knowledge and hard-work of her is admirable .The whole team helped me throughout my recovery.I am truly thankful.

I am very blessed to have her as my Doctor. Throughout my pregnancy she helped and supported a lot, including her amazing team. Whenever I had any concern, reached them and every time she and her team respond promptly. God bless you and your team. Over all great experience with her.
