“2025 Update: Niagara River Recreation Trail is a 56-kilometre paved path that runs from Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie. Divided into four sections, the trail offers scenic views of the Niagara River and the surrounding countryside. Whether you choose to walk, run, bike, or rollerblade along this beautiful trail, there are plenty of opportunities to stop at various stores and restaurants along the way. The trail is a lovely paved multi-use path that runs along the Canadian side of the Niagara River. It is 7.8 miles in length. There are many (over ten) designated accessible spaces in the large paved parking lot off of Niagara Parkway at the south end of the trail. Most of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved asphalt, smooth, and typically at least 2 meters wide. The trail can get crowded, so there can be perks to going in the off-season.”

NIAGARA GLEN NATURE CENTRE REVIEWS

My favorite place to hike in the fall. Its well marked and can connect with the whirlpool trail. Total 10km. Highly recommend to wear hiking books and bring your trekking poles if you're a bit concerned with the steps or uneven rocks. Once you descend to the riverbank, it'll be easier and flatter. It is the most interesting and fun trail to hike in my opinion. Also, if you are planning to take your time, it's better to buy a pass than paying hourly parking. Enjoy.

I’ve been coming to the Niagara Glen since I was a kid and have always loved the well maintained trails and beautiful scenery. If you need a place to go to take your mind off all the crazy things that are going on in this world, this is the place to be.

Really beautiful scenery and great hike. Parking is definitely hard to find and pretty expensive. Its $8/hr. We had to park a bit far away and it was like a 12 min walk to the trail.

HEARTLAND FOREST REVIEWS

This is one of the best places! They have lots of activities --indoors and outdoors. The trails are great, and they add more when they can. One thing: watch the ticks! They are everywhere! We were on pollinator trail last year and came out of there with about 20 ticks on the legs. I have seen the ticks from March-Dec. Still a fantastic place. I encourage that parents watch their children and please do not litter! I also discourage balloons there in the forest, as they can be mistaken for food by some wildlife, or they can get tangled in the strings.

Love this place as a nature enthusiast who is looking to share the experience with the family. Outdoor playground, climbing / balance bean, education center, mini-putt, and relatively short hiking trails where you will find small animals to observe (frogs, turtles, etc). Next to Blackburn Brewrey, if you want to grab and drink or a pint after.

Visited today and this place is awesome! Not only is the majority of the trails accessible, the activities available and things to see are definitely worth while. I would have begged my parents to take me here as a kid. Friendly staff and beautiful facilities too!

NIAGARA RIVER RECREATION TRAIL REVIEWS

Moderate trail level. View after a long trail was just too good. Nice, peaceful and calm near the river. Lush green trees, tiny colourful flowers, clean and clear water just were eye pleasing. Definitely a must try trail. They is ample parking space and picnic tables to rest too.

The view is incredible! Going down the trail was so easy and you would appreciate every single steps you made.. down the mountain is the most amazing part of it. Going back up the trail or mountain is kinda hard coz of lots steps but worth it! Good for exercise.

I've thoroughly experienced this trail, all the way to Niagara On-the-lake, for the past 27 years, and it never gets old. It's a magnificent place to walk, run, or ride your bike. I highly recommend this trail, specially if you love nature.
