This registered charity is committed to protecting nature, educating people about ensuring nature's survival and making nature available to everyone, even those with different abilities. Heartland Forest provides boardwalks and wheelchair-accessible trails. The trail is open to all ages and offers free admission. Heartland Forest features a learning centre in the Niagara Falls nature preserve. Heartland forest also has various wildlife, including birds and turtles. You can easily spend an entire day here with access to the park and picnic tables.

2025 Update: Niagara River Recreation Trail is a 56-kilometre paved path that runs from Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie. Divided into four sections, the trail offers scenic views of the Niagara River and the surrounding countryside. Whether you choose to walk, run, bike, or rollerblade along this beautiful trail, there are plenty of opportunities to stop at various stores and restaurants along the way. The trail is a lovely paved multi-use path that runs along the Canadian side of the Niagara River. It is 7.8 miles in length. There are many (over ten) designated accessible spaces in the large paved parking lot off of Niagara Parkway at the south end of the trail. Most of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved asphalt, smooth, and typically at least 2 meters wide. The trail can get crowded, so there can be perks to going in the off-season.
