“Francis/King Regional Park is a well-maintained hiking trail in Saanich, BC. The park spans 265 acres with 6.2 miles (10 kilometres) of trails, including gentle woodland trails, an accessible boardwalk, and a nature center. It is excellent at engaging children to make the learning experience fun through various activities. Francis/King Regional Park's trail connects to Thetis Lake Regional Park, allowing visitors to explore multiple plants and birds. The park is also a perfect place for family outings with young children. Francis/King Regional Park has interpretive panels, water fountains, and restroom facilities.

2025 Update: The Elsie King Trail is an 800-meter self-guided loop that provides access to nature for individuals with limited mobility and agility.”

“2025 Update: Horth Hill Regional Park is a 36-hectare park on the northern end of the Saanich Peninsula. Horth Hill Regional Park is located 12.6 miles from Saanich, BC. The park offers stunning views of Satellite Channel, the Saanich Peninsula, and the Gulf Islands. Horth Hill Regional Park features some of the oldest rock on Vancouver Island. About 15,000 years ago, glaciers moved over this area, shaping the land and leaving behind rounded hills called monadnocks. Users can enjoy several lookout areas with views of the Saanich Peninsula and the Saanich Inlet. The main trails are wide enough for two people to walk beside each other. As you walk up the hill, you will encounter two staircases, one going up and one going down. You can also observe various flora and fauna. FRANCIS/KING REGIONAL PARK REVIEWS

This is a very cute little park with some amazing spring flowers and impressive trees. The side with the parking lot has an accessible trail that has a few gradual hills but is level, wide, and has guard bumpers near the ground. That side also has more rugged, but very short, trails I've seen many families with young ones exploring there :) The side opposite the parking lot has lots of trails and connects to Thetis Lake park, you can do relatively short or relatively long loops depending on your preference:) All of it is beautiful, all of it easy to navigate, and all of it pet friendly (though leashes are required on the accessible trail).

One of the most versatile trails around in terms of people's varying abilities. There is the wheelchair-accessible loop where dogs must be on leash, and then there is a big system of trails as well where dogs can be off-leash. You can do easy flatter loops or you can work in a bit of incline in other spots. Some beautiful forest and big trees.

Great easy hikes of differing kilometers that either loop or connect to neighboring parks like Thetis. Lots of ferns, Arbutus trees,moss and Oregon grape. Minimal tripping roots and trails are well marked. Hope you like dogs? We came on a long weekend and there were more canines than their masters.

HORTH HILL REGIONAL PARK REVIEWS

Beautiful trees and plants. Well marked trails, I did Lookout Loop which was a nice walk for my dog and I. Very quiet and only encountered one person. So good if you’re wanting some space away from people.

Great views, stunning vistas, the look out ridge is a magical place where your eye can see the as far as the Olympic Mountains. Short hikes and long hikes are both encouraged here.

Lovely hike .. pick whether you want gentle or uphill. We have been doing the tougher trail (Sunset Bridle Trail) and its about an hour from the parking lot to complete.

ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱/JOHN DEAN PROVINCIAL PARK REVIEWS

Really nice local park with lots of trails. We did the Barret Montfort loop trail, about 5 1/2km. A good mix of elevation change for a good workout. Densely treed with access to viewpoints along the way. Will definitely go again and do some of the other trails. I used the AllTrails app which is really helpful when you get to junctions without trail markers. Lots of green foliage to see and birds to listen to.

This 174 hectare park is a little bit a paradise only 30 minutes from downtown Victoria! HIke through the last stands of old growth douglas fir on the Saanich Penninsula, walk through Garry Oak meadows and take in some spectacular views of the Saanich Pennishula and Haro Strait from the top of Mount Newton. Trails are well maintained, and well marked...well worth a visit.

A beautiful park for a hike. Excellent extensive nature trails with great views of the Saanich peninsula. Parking is limited though so definitely carpool! Dog-friendliness: Dogs off leash are generally accepted here (though technically it's supposed to be on leash)
