“Parc de l'Île-Melville covers 160 hectares of wetlands in Shawinigan City Centre. The park provides direct motorbike access to Green Road. The wooded area offers lodging and events year-round. “Vallée Rocanigan is an enchanting site where everyone can relax. The nature area has several types of equipment for families. The trails were filled with tall trees and different plants, definitely a great spot to visit. The trails are well-labelled and navigate the beautiful forest with well-shaded trees. Vallée Rocanigan is perfect for many outdoor activities with a calm and peaceful natural landscape. Visitors can go snowshoeing, skating, and riding a snow scooter in winter. The trails are well-maintained, with site maps and benches in many places.

2025 Update: Vallée Rocanigan has 22 loops over 17 km of marked snowshoe trails in the mountains and 3 km of snow scooter trails. It has a public restroom.”

PARC NATIONAL DE LA MAURICIE REVIEWS

Gorgeous national park! We hiked part of the Lac Solitaire trail, as far as the first view of the lake. Steep uphill most of the way, very strenuous but very beautiful. The park ranger was super friendly, and gave us the recommendation for which trail to hike in the time we had. There was a place to fill water bottles at the start of the trail. Only $16 for a family to enter and enjoy for the day. Restrooms: Very clean! In the information center before the ticket booth.

The most beautiful park to walk in. Amazing colours, especially in autumn. The trails are sign posted and for all levels from easy to intermediate to difficult. Having done all 3 levels, greedy are aptly graded! The difficulty ones are very challenging, both in distance but also in climbing and descending! The entrance fee it's money well spent to presence and maintain such a beautiful place. Unmissable.

One of the best parks close to Montreal. Great for kayaking and picnic or BBQ! Well maintained chalet, restroom and trails for hiking. August - October is the best time to visit. A must visit actually.

PARC DE L'ÎLE-MELVILLE REVIEWS

We stayed here for two nights on our way to Quebec. Nothing really in the town worth checking out, but the campground was wonderful. Not many other campers there so it was nice and quiet. A great spot for a quiet nights sleep! We had a spot right on the river, and enjoyed sitting outside watching and feeding the ducks. The woman in the office who checked us in was very friendly and spoke very good English. We are from the US and speak a little French. If you visit Quebec and don't speak French, please try and learn a few basic words, such as merci and bonjour, it will go a long way toward spreading kindness! Campground was very clean, river very scenic.

Great camping if you want to kick back and relax. Well maintained bicycle paths. Many lovely parks and picnic areas. Great for paddle boarding or canoeing. Definitely dog friendly, and wait for it, free Wi-Fi, a rarity in Québec, and less we forget clean bathrooms.

Big park located on shawinigan QC. The shawinigan falls are definitely one place that you have to visit. There are also camping grounds, kayak and lots of trails. The river is beautiful and peaceful.

VALLÉE ROCANIGAN REVIEWS

Amazing and lovely place! Friendly and welcoming staff. Really affordable prices with a variety of activities for all the family: skate,hike,slide. 4 trails that last from 45 min to 3h either you want to do a nordic hike or with the snowshoes. At the end there's a beautiful and warming yourte with a fire place to rest with hot chocolate and marshmallows waiting for you .You must go entrance is 6$, snowshoes 4$. Open around 10am and close at 7pm but they don't rush you.

Simply extraordinary place for snowshoeing with family or lovers. The 2 kilometer family trail is wonderful for children and for more fit people there is plenty of trail for snowshoeing for a good while. From memory there is a trail that can take us more than 15 km along the edge of the stream and in the forest with a magnificent view of breathtaking landscapes.

Very good and beautiful trail to visit if you are in the area. Entrance costs only $5 per person for a 2-hour hike.
