“Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre was founded by a small team of volunteers who wanted to preserve Ontario's rich history of bush and firefighting. CBHC's lifeblood is its volunteers. Many committed individuals actively work to restore, conserve, interpret, encourage, and present the bush plane and forest fire fighting heritage. The Heritage Centre showcases two categories of displays: aviation and forest fire. Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre preserves and tells the story of Canada's history in bush plane aviation and forest fire safety, and how these factors influenced life in Canada's northern and remote regions. Recent renovations have made visits to the centre more pleasant, including a new entrance, theatre, gift shop, and support services. The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre offers free admission for children aged under four.

2025 Update: Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a world-class museum connecting people of all ages to Canada’s exciting bushplane and forest protection heritage.”

“GFL Memorial Gardens provides the Ontario Hockey League with a top-notch home. GFL Memorial Gardens' facilities include a multisport arena, event space, trade show areas, and presentation rooms. GFL Memorial Gardens has 4,928 sports seats, and the VIP Room seats 60 people. Private suites range in seating size from six to ten people. The Gardens includes a $500,000 scoreboard with an integrated video component, live broadcast capability (up to five cameras), and replay and TV functionality. Wireless internet is also available throughout the facility. The venue provides a kitchen, restaurant, rental spaces, and dressing rooms.

2025 Update: The suite level of the Gardens houses 13 private suites, a VIP room located on the north end, media and broadcasting rooms, and administration offices for both the Greyhounds Hockey Club and the City of Sault Ste.”

CANADIAN BUSHPLANE HERITAGE CENTRE REVIEWS

I've been here twice, and loved it both times. They have a lovely collection of both common and rare planes that helped shape Canada. There is a very informative section on Forest Firefighting. The section is complemented by a number of aircraft used in those rolls. Early airlines also feature heavily at the museum. Both with artifacts and a number of aircraft. Another good section is early radios in Canada. They have a large number of scale models. The models are a little dated but well maintained and represent a large range of aircraft. The Museum also shares the space with an Entomology group called Entomica Insectarium. It's only a couple of dollars more but it is worth it to see some rare and unique critters. These critters included insects, frogs, tortoises/turtles, salt water and fresh water fish, lizards, and birds. Also located here is a trading area for fossils, insects feathers and the like. You bring stuff you've found and trade it with stuff in the museum collection. I highly recommend it if you are visiting Sault Ste Marie.

Excellent small museum featuring a unique collection of Bush Planes that you can walk right into, even up to the cockpit. Good history, and great activities inside for the kids!

Awesome place to visit! Great tour guides lots of information and can answer all your questions. Wonderful theatre's with seats that recline. A must visit if you're in the area.

Spent a wonderful afternoon among the exhibits today, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were so welcoming and informative - they work so diligently to keep our local history fresh and accessible. Thank you for the search and research challenges, and the lively conversation, it was much appreciated!

The Sault Ste. Marie Museum offers a charming glimpse into the city's history with engaging exhibits and informative displays. It's a great place to explore the local heritage and learn something new about the area. All the staff are nice and friendly.

Well it's great or excellent really for family events such as we all love Hockey & our Soon Greyhounds Team plus there is plenty of other awesome fun stuff that goes on at the GFL Memorial Gardens that is simply fun for the whole family. Thank you!! Safe travels have fun Godbless everyone.

Was very welcoming for the Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses during June. Easy to navigate to seating and other areas. I look forward to coming back in the future!

Great place to watch a game. Good entertainment and hotels located ten steps from the exit.
