“Paroisse Sainte-Rose-de-Lima is one of the famous churches in Laval. The church was established to serve the rapidly growing parish community. By 1740, the creation of the parish of Ste-Rose was authorized. Between 1769 & 1780, a conflict between the parishioners and the Bishop interrupted worship. After disputes, peace returned, and the second church was erected in the bay area. By 1788, the parish's expansion required the priest to start the construction of the current church. After years of service, by 1974, the church was recognized as "Cultural Property." Recognized as "cultural property" on December 27, 1974, by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, they hope you will appreciate the accuracy of its proportions, the simplicity of its lines, and the great value of the elements from the second church! Paroisse Sainte-Rose-de-Lima has served the community for over two centuries and is an iconic architectural achievement.”
