CHES'S FAMOUS FISH AND CHIPS REVIEWS

I love their home made vinegar and the chillie seasoning they have. Their fish and chips were great as well. I ordered the snowball combo that had the snowball dessert, and onion rings and ordered the gravy with dressing, also ordered the seafood combo with scallops. It was the first time. I had dressing and it was pretty good but not my favorite thing, great to try if you aren't from Newfoundland nonetheless. The fish was very flakey and battered lightly. Everything was juicy and yummy.

The batter was golden and crisp, nice, thick pieces of fish. The chips, dressing, and gravy were really good. Dressing was one right. Iceberg beer was cold and easy drinking. I suggest washing down the meal with 2 cold ones. If you're visiting, don't forget to get your official Ches's certification. Ask the waitress she friendly and smily.

Fish and chips and poutine are great, also really good prices for the portion. Lots of cozy seating room and feels a bit old school but nice. Staff were very friendly and gave us nice suggestions.

LEO'S RESTAURANT & TAKE-OUT REVIEWS

I found out about Leo's when I watched a number of Mark Royle YouTube videos about Newfoundland fish and chips. Along with all his other recommendations Leo's didn't disappoint. The fries had a different taste than the other fish and chip places that I loved. The staff were friendly and welcomed me as newcomer with characteristic Newfoundland hospitality. Leo's is a must try when in St. John's.

Leo's was good. Fish was smaller than Ches's or Keith's darker softer batter. Chips dressing and gravy were good. Wanted the works but they were out of peas and carrots I ended up having fried o ions on top. Old location nostalgic place to have a feed of fish and chips.

Leo's fish and chips are legendary in St. Johns. Simply put they are worth every bit of time and energy it takes to try them! So good.

SCAMPER'S SNACK BAR REVIEWS

Wonderful food, reasonable portions, and remarkable prices. Fifteen dollars gets you a turkey dinner with veggies, fries, dressing, and gravy. With coffee.

Decent portions, I ended up getting the large 2 piece fish and chips. It was very tasty and filling, definitely would be returning here again.

The staff was friendly and the food was really good. The prices were good for the portions. Went with 3 others and everyone enjoyed their food. We all had different things and everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. Will definitely eat here again. It is an old school diner type vibe in the restaurant but I liked that, nothing too fancy. Loved all the boats they had done in glass on display around the restaurant.
