“Deer Lake Park is a huge park with a lake for water sports. The park is a scenic hiking park with a peaceful natural setting. The rental shop opens around springtime and closes by autumn. Deer Lake Park has scenic picnic areas, lakeside trails leading to the Burnaby Art Gallery, and other attractions. You could rent various boats to enjoy the lake and have nice spots for a picnic. Deer Lake Park is perfect for hiking, running or biking, and bicyclists. The park is an excellent place to enjoy beautiful grounds and gorgeous gardens and to watch the setting sun. Deer Lake Park has lots of wildlife and is a fantastic place for outdoor performances. The park provides parking spots and washrooms, and it is wheelchair accessible.

“Robert Burnaby Park has an extensive trail system with some steep uphill and downhill sections. Walkers and joggers heavily use the network of trails in the quiet surroundings of the forested creek. The park features play areas, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, lacrosse boxes, skate parks, and a disc golf course. This park is wheelchair accessible and also has parking areas and washrooms. Robert Burnaby Park is the best place for nature lovers to enjoy the diversity of creeks that flow beneath the towering conifer canopy. Visitors can participate in many activities here. The park offers various outdoor activities and walks, ideal for individual exploration or family picnics. Robert Burnaby Park is one of the favourite picnic spots for many residents of Burnaby.

2025 Update: There are 4 parking lots in the park and some street parking around the perimeter as well. Robert Burnaby Park features creeks and streams that flow into local fish-bearing waters, with over half of the park area being vital wildlife habitat.”

DEER LAKE PARK REVIEWS

Quiet, Peaceful & Beautiful park with an easy walking trail around the lake, suitable for all ages. You can bring dogs to the trail on leashed but cannot bring them inside the park We entered the trail from the boat rental store which locates next to the park and it took less than 1.5 hours to complete the trail back to the parking lots (we walked alongside of the lake) The trail is partial shaded by trees & some areas are fully exposed with Sunlight (vitamin D moments) Bonus - we saw many gooses, unfortunately no deer in the Deer Lake.

Absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed my short walk here and enjoy the scenery. So wide and if you love walking then this park is good for you. I will try to visit on a weekdays so I could explore a lot of activities especially indoor

Perfect place good for family, doing sport like running jogging and all, beautiful scenery.

Beautiful place for a walk! A few kilometers all the way around, so i recommend going around some of the smaller loops. Also check out Piper Spit, it has a huge variety of birds including a Mandarin duck, Wood ducks, Mallards, Green-winged Teals, Dowitchers, and Red-winged Blackbirds.

Nice and easy 10km+ walk. Some if the trail around the lake will take you through wetlands and some through a forest. Nice scenery and not too many people but for sure a few bears in the area.

Beautiful park full of ducks and birds. Its so nice to walk to spend some time watching beautiful birds. Good parking space as well.

Forgot how great this park is. Used to come here as a kid/teen for all kinds of fun in the playground, outdoor pool, tennis courts, disc golf course, off-leash dog park, and lots of trails for walking, running, or riding. Even on a Sunday afternoon we saw very few people on the trails. A little traffic noise from the freeway near the bottom, but once you're in the forest ... This used to be a great place for 5-8 person teams of capture the flag.

Great park with lots to do - shaded walking trails, playground, tennis courts and disc golf. Occasionally you'll be able to fine original sculptures made from natural materials by a local artist. Disc golf course is good - clear tee-pads and lots of fun possible layouts that provide good technical challenges and reward a variety of spots.

A big, forest park with great walking trails and an off-leash dog area. Lots of amenities: excellent baseball diamond, frisbee golf course, tennis courts, and great benches for taking a break on this steep terrain. When we found out that a big, friendly bear was seen nearby — we headed for the parking lot! Looking forward to a return visit. Enjoy.
