Hubby and I had a much-needed date night this past weekend and decided to go for a hike. We took the Velodrome Trail up, had dinner and a glass of wine at Horizons at the top, then hiked a different trail down (can't recall the trail name). A great way to spend an afternoon! Fantastic views of our wonderful city and lovely art installations.

The Deer Lake Trail is my favorite trail run for sure! It can be short and easy 5K or up all the big hills and stairs - almost 400 stairs counting the ones at the beach - for a bigger loop, and for added distance, I can do the 'undulating' hills to Sussex and back! About 9 or 10k from my home. A bonus is watching the heron colony at the trailhead, and all the lush scenery en route.

Ask friends to go together, its nice to talk with friends and enjoy the view at same time. Take skytrain to get there, bring some water and snacks, you can have a picnic on the meadow, or just follow the trail to have a nice walk.
