“Musee du Fort Saint-Jean is a well-maintained museum in Saint Jean sur Richelieu, QC. The museum holds 350 years of records of the navy and military at the lovely site of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean. The museum witnessed the passage of Native American warriors, French and English troops, American revolutionaries, and several Canadian units. The museum acquires, interprets, and maintains objects that bear witness for academic and educational purposes, primarily to Canadian military heritage. The museum's history is presented through thematic maps, models, uniforms, weapons, artifacts, and archived material. This site is declared a national historic site because of the three forts built there and its importance during the American invasion of 1775 when the fort supported a 45-day siege led by General Montgomery. At Musee du Fort Saint-Jean, the outdoor guided tour will allow you to discover the remains of previous forts in the footsteps of past occupants. The museum also offers free admission for children 12 years and under and military members.”
