“Delta Community Music School is a full-service music school that has been serving the Delta Community for over 43 years. Their nonprofit community music school for musicians of all ages aims to bring the best musicians and teachers of the Lower Mainland to Delta. The school offers private lessons on most instruments and voice, ensemble classes for voice and jazz study, and summer workshops and festivals. They also provide music theory through the RCM exams and Jazz Studies. Some of their summer programs include the Summer Chamber Music at St. Anne’s (SCHUSA 2025). Their goal is to primarily teach their students, but also to make sure they have fun in a pressure-free, judgment-free environment. Their classes are typically half an hour on a weekly schedule. Spacenote Studios offers private lessons during the regular school year. They offer a Choir experience for children ages 8-12. They also offer discounts for summer lessons. Delta Community Music School is a wonderful music school! I've been going here for 6 years now and going 3 times a week. I'm involved in guitar, voice and piano. The teachers are so caring and thoughtful. I wouldn't trade my time at DCMS for the world! I'd say for sure it's FABULOUS.

JENSEN SCHOOL OF MUSIC REVIEWS

Derek is a fantastic guitar teacher—friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. My son has been a student of his for years and really enjoys his lessons. Derek customizes lesson plans according to what you would like out of them: from classical, to studying for examinations, or just learning tab and playing favourite rock/alternative songs. He’s transitioned to Zoom practices and they are just as effective as his in-person ones. Derek sends sheet music and mp3s via email for lessons and is also willing to adjust times and dates of lessons to accommodate changes in your schedule. He is a polite and respectful person and we are very happy with how our son’s progression. Highly recommend this guy!

Derek is an excellent guitar teacher. My son had been taking lessons for a couple of years before coming to Derek. After a few months of lessons we realized what a difference it makes to have a really good teacher who is a professional musician! My son made such quick progress after that, and really enjoyed the lessons. Derek is personable, friendly, kind, and patient. He really knows his stuff. He was able to teach my son some bass guitar and mandolin as well!

Derek is an excellent teacher! He has been working with my son, Quinton, for a couple of years now. Quinton looks forward to his lessons and has improved significantly but, more important than that, Derek has been a great influence on Quinton's growth as a person. As a musician and a parent, I highly recommend Derek as a guitar teacher for beginners and more advanced players too!

I really like the fact that Spacenote Studios teachers receive training on how to teach properly. My daughter took music lessons at a different school for some time and I can already see the positive effects of different teaching methods, group lessons and an emphasis on fun and a positive atmosphere. Thanks guys for bringing music back into our life!
