Specialty:
"Great Lakes Family Practice & Walk-In Clinic has a team of family physicians, specialists, and allied health providers and nurse to help with your medical needs. An on-site pharmacy is also available. The clinic staff's expertise and dedication contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the healthcare facility. Great Lakes Family Practice accepts walk-in patients based on availability of appointment on a first-come, first-served basis.
2026 Update: Great Lakes Family Practice & Walk-In Clinic is a community-rooted family medicine office on Sidney Street in downtown Belleville, serving the broader Quinte region (Belleville, Trenton, Picton, Bay of Quinte). The practice was built for what most patients in this part of eastern Ontario actually need a real family doctor they'll see across years of routine and unexpected health needs, available without long drives or impossible wait times. Two accepting family physicians anchor the practice Dr. Ukemeobong Michael Uwah and Dr. Goher Altaf. Dr. Altaf provides care in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi making the clinic a meaningful option for South Asian families in Belleville and the broader Quinte region who may have limited access to multilingual primary care. Beyond standard family medicine, patients have access to MD Connected's virtual specialist network covering adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, internal medicine, nephrology, and substance use care bridging the long specialist wait times typical of eastern Ontario. The clicic has easy parking, walking distance to other Quinte services. All medically necessary visits are 100% covered by OHIP for patients with a valid Ontario Health Card. There is no out-of-pocket cost at the clinic for OHIP-covered consultations, walk-in urgent care, prescription renewals, sick notes, sexual health visits, vaccinations covered by publicly funded programs, and chronic disease management. The clinic is part of MD Connected, which operates 8 clinics."
