“Contemporary Calgary is becoming an iconic Calgary landmark and a world-class modern and contemporary art destination. Their main aim is to provide a significant visual arts destination dedicated to modern and contemporary art for Calgary and their visitors. Contemporary Calgary offers outstanding local, national, and international contemporary art programs. Their new series of online initiatives aims to build programming across digital channels that is welcoming, inclusive, engaging, and essential. They provide free admission for children 12 and under. This gallery is wheelchair accessible, and a parking facility is also available.

2025 Update: David Leinster is the Chief Executive Officer of Contemporary Calgary. He secured a 35-year lease of the historic Centennial Planetarium, guaranteeing the gallery’s future in one of Calgary’s most iconic buildings. Contemporary Calgary is pleased to offer daily guided tours at 1 PM, included with admission. Tours can accommodate up to 15 guests and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. They also provide an opportunity to book private and intimate specialized group tours.”

“Esker Foundation is owned by Jim and Susan Hill. This is a place for institutional relevance, curatorial focus, and audience engagement. The gallery presents exhibitions, engaging and accessible educational programs, online and print publications, and supports new artistic production. In addition, the gallery reflects on current developments in local, regional, and international culture and creates opportunities for public dialogue. They support the production of groundbreaking new work, ideas, and research. Esker Foundation's programs include three exhibition changes per year for the fall, winter, and spring/summer seasons. In addition, the Esker Foundation offers free admissions.

LOVE this gallery! So welcoming, great artist representation, fun events and then even have a framing studio! Cannot say enough great things about this place and people. Go check them out!

Amazing atmosphere, interesting and talented artists, many fun events to visit at the gallery. They also can repair and frame your favorite art pieces there! Highly recommend for all of the art lovers.

So good to see Joanne MacDonald's work, under rated local sculpture getting the recognition she deserves.

I highly recommend this art gallery, particularly for modern art enthusiasts. They showcase a diverse range of art forms, including installations, paintings, sculptures, and interactive pieces. Despite its modest size, it's worth a visit, and the best part is, admission is free!

Visited with my lady. The entire building is a modern work of art. The esker gallery is a beautiful gallery that encourages the diversity and unique contemporary art style. Very beautiful and inspiring artworks! Easily spent there 2h.

One of my most favorite places in Calgary. Love that admission is free. Never miss an exhibit!
