Hooksey’s… our favourite local breakfast/fish and chips joint. If you are not local to the area, it is easily missed but word of mouth reaches far and wide when you are a wholesomely good family spot! My family and I have been coming here for years. We love both the breakfast and the fish and chips! My most recent visit was for breakfast and my usual order is the Full of It sandwich. Other family members usually get eggs, bacon and peameal. The over easy eggs are cooked and plated perfectly. The pancakes (not pictured here) are fluffy and soft with no eggy flavour. While we came here for breakfast today, we also love the fish and chips. The fish portions have to be the most generous I’ve ever encountered without excessive batter. The gravy is dark and delicious and perfect accompaniment to the chips. Be sure to also try their Greek salad… one of the best greek salads I’ve had. The dressing is creamy and so flavourful along with a generous mound of fresh, soft feta. This is a family run business and owners are wonderful. We will continue to visit and have told many of our friends and family about this place.

I really enjoyed the fish and chips. The fish was crunchy and fresh, and the chips were tasty. The serving size was big, and the tartar sauce was good. A very nice meal!! Loved it.

Our work group had an Excellent breakfast this morning. Eggs Benny perfectly done and generous portions ( 3 poached eggs, thick peameal) . Everyone’s food looked amazing. Very friendly service . Definitely going to visit again.

HALIBUT KING FISH & CHIPS REVIEWS

I recently dined at Halibut Fish and Chips and was thoroughly impressed. The cozy atmosphere and exceptional service from Corrie and Mo made our visit memorable. They entertained my son with coloring books and helped us choose the best dishes, which were delicious. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and flavorful. This restaurant has won my heart, and I look forward to returning often. I highly recommend everyone visit at least once to experience the difference.

Had never been to this restaurant before. It was Good Friday and we went to our local fish and chip restaurant but they closed early. Therefore, I looked for another place to go to. This is when I discovered Halibut King Fish and Chips. I went inside to place my order. I requested the diner for 4. I received my order in a timely fashion and made my way home. They have seating inside the restaurant, but my family was at home. Upon opening our food we realized the fish was very lightly battered, this was the best fish we’ve ever had. Oh, the fries, I can’t express or explain how good they were. Hands down the best fries I’ve also ever had. Plus the tartare sauce was a great quantity, not like other places I’ve been to in the past. If you’ve never been to Halibut King this is where you must come to get your next fish and chips.

I wanted to grab a quick bite. Saw this place while driving by and decided to stop in. I definitely was not disappointed. This is a hidden gem in Whitby. One of the best fish n chips I have had in a long time. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

I’m back again for my Sunday morning breakfast special. For $5.99. I get Brown to dry eggs over easy and very delicious french fries I have been craving this for two weeks, and I definitely am glad I managed to satisfy my craving. Thank you Halibut House, I will be back again soon. Thank you Karla.

This place is awesome and has the friendliest staff. I enjoyed every bite. Great experience overall. I just have to say there are a lot of complaints about the size and shape of the Halibut, if you go to the website it explains in detail why they are the rectangular shape and size that they are. It does not take away from the taste and quality. So delicious and the portions are perfect for one person. Try the breakfast too! So good! The potatoes are sooooo yummy.

Atlast, I found Durham's best fish and chips. I tried all the options halibut, cod, and haddock. My favorite is Halibut. Also tried their salad bowl with shrimp and fish taco. Everything was super fresh. The fish was tasty and flavorful. I would definitely recommend their fish n chips and fish taco. Also, don't forget they have Cheesecake factory cheesecake as well.
