Greg and his company came highly recommended by a friend who is an interior decorator who had also worked with him on previous projects. Our plan was to renovate the whole main floor which included the kitchen, creating a Great room out of an existing office and family room, expansion of a laundry room, refinishing and updating the look of two staircases, and flooring up to the landing of the second floor. From the start, Greg was organized and very clear and transparent with expectations and a timeline. A website was created with an outline of all the work that was planned for, a detailed schedule with major milestones, deadlines for when selections needed to be made, including sign off and when payments had to be made. Throughout the project, we felt like we were able to stick to our vision and tweak it with their expertise. His team along with with his right-hand Cody, was knowledgeable, courteous, and hardworking. The projected time for the project was a 12-16 week window and considering we started the project before the world shut down, they were able to finish it in 18 weeks with all delays being on the supply chain side. Any worry or fear that we’ve ever heard about not being able to reach contractors or not sticking to appointments went away with Greg and his team. We had good communication throughout the project and he listened to all of our concerns, which were dealt with in a systematic and communicative way.

Greg and his team came in an completely repaired and completed our basement. After a negative experience with another contractor, Home Retreats saves the project. Greg is incredibly personable and professional. Cody and Jeff completed our project professionally and expertly in the time frame allotted. We hired Greg and Home Retreats for a full interior renovation on our 1930's home in Georgetown. We were very impressed with the thorough scope and sequence of the job, leaving very few surprises during the rebuild. The initial organization led to consistently meeting timelines and completing the job on time, as promised. Obviously, the older home led to some challenges, like the awkward, small stairs for instance, but Cody's carpentry craftsmanship was always able to marry the old with the new in order to give us the finish we were after. Greg is always available to answer questions, we had many late evening phone conversations and weekend meetings on site. He hires trades that hold a similar high standard to his own and he treats them well. During aftercare, Greg has always been quick to respond and fix any issue without hesitation. We have worked with several contractors over 3 houses and several decades but Hadley-Irvine General Contracting is by far the best firm we have dealt with. During the summer, they built a new garage / workshop for us, on budget and just slightly behind schedule due to a lot of spring rain. They outlined the project in detail with an easy to understand and well-laid out agreement. From the time they broke ground for the foundation through to final inspection there were no surprises. Kirk kept us updated on what came next and always emailed us the day before any tradespeople arrived. The sub trades that they used all did quality work and kept the worksite very clean. I’m fairly handy and familiar with building methods so I checked out each phase after completion. Rarely could I find something to fault and usually I was nit-picking. Over the past two/three years we have commissioned (Jeff) Hadley – (Kirk) Irvine General Contractors to oversee three major house projects. The first project involved renovating and upgrading the two upstairs bathrooms. Work included a complete gutting of floors/walls and fixtures followed by the installation of new dry wall in shower areas, a free standing master bathroom glass shower stall, claw tub, new ceramic flooring, marble vanities, toilets, plumbing fixtures, electrical upgrades and exhaust fans. We were so pleased with the quality of workmanship of Jeff Hadley and Kirk Irvine that we asked them to undertake a second project which entailed renovating one of the larger upstairs bedrooms including installation of new laminate flooring, electrical outlets and “ceiling to floor” wainscoting. Recently we secured Jeff and Kirk for a third project which involved a complete renovation of the kitchen. This entailed removal of all cabinetry (which was subsequently painted offsite by one of their reliable subcontractors) new cabinet hardware, the laying flooring (hardwood and slate) and new custom made granite countertops.

From the moment Kirk and Jeff came by to give a quote on our basement project I felt a sense of trust. It was evident in the amount of time and detail they went into giving us a quote that this job would be a success. They listened intently to what we would like to do and provided us with great suggestions as well. During the job they went above and beyond what you would expect constantly. All work was done when they said it would be done and it was done on budget. No surprises- save one: How at ease they made this project come together! Along the way they provided constant updates and asked how we would like to do certain things. They kept our house sane and livable during the project keeping things remarkably clean.
