“Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre was built by Maurice and Eliza Smeltzer in 1920 on a large farm in the former farming district of Salisbury. Three generations of people lived in this house. Smeltzer House Visual Arts Centre offers various seasonally available arts and crafts workshops where you can create beautiful, one-of-a-kind projects for your home or garden. This heritage site is a hub for cultural programs in Strathcona County. In addition, pottery classes for youth and adults are offered in the Clay Hut, and glass fusing classes are held in Studio One.

COMMUNITY CENTRE AND COUNTY HALL REVIEWS

A centre for the community should be inviting and have many features the would fulfill the needs of the community. This place meets those needs and more. The centre has a library, meeting rooms and a coffee shop. There are lots of places to sit and relax. There is a large meeting room facility that can contain lots of people. There are washroom facilities available here and are clean. The building is well lit and clean. Of course the meeting rooms can be rented out. Just a great facility with underground parking. There is also a restaurant and art gallery as part of the building.

A lovely library where you can get a latte or tea. A nice quiet place to write. There is even a pod where you are all by yourself without the world.

The Strathcona Library offers excellent class on a variety of topics. Instruction is excellent. Thanks to the library staff for presenting or organizing the session.

SMELTZER HOUSE VISUAL ARTS CENTRE REVIEWS

Fused Glass Studio is a wonderful experience at Smeltzer House Centre For Arts. The classes are designed for a variety of levels.

This place is a wonderful little escape in the heart of Sherwood Park. Beautifully maintained.

Always a great time together creating. We love getting to picnic in the garden's after workshops.

THE MAKERY REVIEWS

We brought our 6yo to the Makery twice this weekend, for open play then for the Slime class the next day! She loved both experiences thoroughly! The staff were friendly and helpful, the 4 rooms well organized with educational and just plain fun toys, and the 2 hours flew by! The slime class walked her through making her own slime, which she was so proud of! The instructor was kind and really looked out for the kids who were attending without their parents. Thanks for being the highlight of our weekend!

We brought our 7 & 8 year old children to The Makery one Saturday morning. It was definitely busy inside, with many different aged children. Our daughters really enjoyed their time there, especially with the luminescent wall, painting and the coding cars. They kept themselves busy going from one area to another, which kind of seemed like what kids were doing. There's a lot to take in and explore, which is amazing. Vanessa and Jason both were very helpful and knowledgeable and were also great with the kids. We'll definitely recommend and be returning to The Makery.

We came for open play. There are tons of things for the kids to do. Many different rooms with themes. We had a blast and our 2 year old really liked it. There was a birthday going on and it would be great for a party. Definitely will be telling friends and hosting a party in the future here! Thanks so much!
