This is a house from the mid-1800s situated on a parcel of land.that was purchased by the town. The house had gone to ruin, a dedicated group of volunteers fund-raised and petitioned and eventually restored it. They had it on the open Doors tour this year, which was a great opportunity to check it out. This venue can handle about 40 people, and would be a nice change from a standard meeting room.
My friends and I were looking for a comfortable location to hold our monthly book club meetings and stumbled across Devereaux House. It was perfect! It's quaint decor lent perfectly to our discussions that often involved novels set in time period of the house. The fact that we could hold our meetings here meant that no one in the group ever had to stress about preparing their home to host an evening...it was all done for us! I highly recommend this venue for meetings and parties and most definitely for Book Club gatherings.
This home is used for many community events and the soccer club uses the upstairs! It is great that the citizens and volunteers in Georgetown chose to restore this home.
