“Avalon Music Academy has been providing music lessons to Brantford, Brant County, Paris, and surrounding areas for over 21 years. Darren Dsouza is the co-owner of the music school. With over 40 years of experience playing guitar, he teaches all styles of guitar, as well as drums, bass, and ukulele. He is fully qualified through the Royal Conservatory of Music as a touring, performing, and studio musician. Avalon Music Academy is committed to engaging the imagination and inspiring compassion in every student through a positive experience with music. The instructors at Avalon Music Academy are highly trained and experienced in musical programs, offering lessons for all ages and abilities. They provide numerous performing opportunities to students, including monthly open-jam sessions, participation in local festivals, two large concerts yearly, and a Christmas television special. Additionally, Avalon Music Academy does not collect registration fees.

2025 Update: They offer lessons both online and in person. The school always offers make-up lessons for missed lessons.”

He is a working musician, playing guitar and singing locally in his acoustic duo Last Men Standing. The school's teachers are ready to teach what they have learned to students of all ages and experience levels. Academy of Music and Performance students are engaged and eager to learn all they can and progress to where they are starting bands of their own. The school offers practice rooms that are available for bands to rent out when it gets a little too loud at home.”

Avalon Music provided the perfect environment and encouragement needed for my guitar journey. Starting to learn guitar at a later stage in my life(+50 years) can pose many unique challenges. But with Darren’s guidance and mentoring, he has allowed me to grow and improve far beyond what I thought was possible. He is truly a master guitarist and great teacher! Avalon Music Academy provides a caring and encouraging environment to learning music and playing. I particularly like the effort they put into organizing the concerts to allow the students, of all ages, showcase their new talents for their family and friends.

The moment you walk through the door, you immediately realize that Avalon is far more than just a place to drop your kids off for the same old music lessons we grew up with. This positively welcoming, inclusive, nurturing & confidence building environment is staffed by talented, dynamic instructors who are eager to pass on their love and enthusiasm for music, ensuring that students of all ages have fun and succeed from day one. Students are also given regular opportunites to engage in community involvement and performances if they choose but are never pressured to do so. I encourage everyone to come to Avalon where you become part of a family, not just a customer.

My daughter Jaylen attended Avalon when she was young. It was her first introduction to vocal and piano lessons. She absolutely LOVED working with the staff and it instilled the passion she has for singing to this day. We would highly recommend this facility.

My son is passionate about reading and playing music, and a big part of his journey and love for music is because of The Music Academy - Dan Taylor Music. Dan, a gifted teacher, has played a pivotal role in helping my son understand the intricacies of music. His teaching style is engaging and tailored to my son's individual learning needs. Through Dan's guidance, my son has gained a deeper appreciation for music and developed his unique musical style. I am truly grateful for Dan's dedication and expertise in nurturing my son's musical talents.

My 4 year old son has been seeing Dan for a little bit now learning the drums. They have a great connection, my son can read music now and he looks forward to going each week. Dan has great patience for kids and he really makes learning music fun. We have always had great communication between Dan and Rebecca, whether it’s a cancellation or a re booking on our end they have always been great to deal with. We hope to stay with them for years to come and I can’t wait to see the progress my son continues to gain.

Dan is an excellent violin instructor. He is very accommodating and approachable. My son enjoys every lesson with him and he is very happy that Dan answer all his questions even when it’s not about music. I highly recommend The Music Academy, they have a very good reputation.

Joe is an Amazing instructor who has helped me develop and grow my abilities as a musician and a songwriter. The Academy is welcoming and comfortable for all ages and skill levels. Joe and Ryan have done an Amazing job bringing this beautiful and professional studio to Brantford. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to pursue the love of music for themselves or their children.

Both my kids love taking music lessons with Ryan and Joe. They both enjoy their weekly lessons and continue to develop their music abilities. Academy of Music & Performance, Brantford provides a welcoming and fun atmosphere. I highly recommend giving them a try if you’re interested in music lessons.

I have enjoyed taking guitar lessons at academy of music with Joe. He is a great teacher. If you have never taken lessons and you want to start great place to go.
