Dr. Vivek Mehta graduated from Queen’s University in 1992 and finished his neurosurgical residency at Dalhousie University. He then did his clinical fellowship training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital and completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology at Harvard University. Dr. Vivek Mehta was an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Dalhousie University. For the last 18 years, he has been a pediatric and adult neurosurgeon at the University of Alberta. He is a clinical professor of neurosurgery at the University of Alberta with a clinical interest in pediatric neurosurgery and neuro-oncology. Dr. Vivek Mehta has been the Neurosurgical Residency Program Director and a Royal College Neurosurgical Exam Committee member. He is the Specialty Chair of Neurosurgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He co-founded Neurosurgery Kids Fund and has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications.

He is interested in doing neurovascular clinical trials, and he is currently executing many international randomized care trials on unruptured aneurysms (CURES), ruptured aneurysms (ISAT-2), flow diverting stents (FIAT), and arteriovenous malformations (TOBAS and TATAM), among others. Dr. Tim Darsaut is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Canada and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications in the neurosurgical field.
