Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo was established in 1976; the Zoo Society is charitable. It is a non-profit environmental awareness group devoted to encouraging appreciation for nature. Its primary focus is on Saskatchewan grassland biodiversity and species that call the prairies home, but still, it deals with several endangered animals found in the zoo. Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo to offer educational services at the park and beyond. It is funded by their subscription plan, loans, gifts, expense recovery of its services, and funds earned at Paws Inn Gift Shop and Concession.

Its mission is to improve the understanding and knowledge of the changing cultures of the Indigenous Peoples of the Northern Plains. The Artist-in-Residence gives Canada's Aboriginal artists time and space to create fresh ideas, demonstrate their artistic practice, develop their body of work, and interact with individuals across Saskatoon.
