“Merritt Island Park is an excellent place for walking, hiking, family picnics, biking, blading, wheeling or jogging. One of its prominent features is a 3.7-mile loop trail. The park is equipped with benches and a specialty water fountain. The tree-lined path is perfect for jogging, hiking and biking. Merritt Island Park also has an outdoor fitness station for physical well-being. A paved trail is also available, and this is ideal for a workout run or bike ride. This is also an excellent spot for a picnic. The park has wheelchair access. Visit Merritt Island Park and enjoy a pleasant time with your family.

“Chippawa Park has various amenities and a beautiful picnic spot. This place also has children’s play structures, pavilion and picnic area reservations, a fishing pier, shower facilities and covered picnic shelters. One of the premier spots in Chippawa Park is a rose garden that features a wide variety of roses, with the City of Welland rose as a part of the display. The park is a prime location for all kinds of physical activity. Chippawa Park is an extraordinary place to meet, play and host group events. The park also has a meeting room, community hall, fireplace and kitchenette. The park also has plenty of shady places to rest and relax.

2025 Update: Chippawa Park has great features, such as paths with accessible walkways, a splash pad, lots of nature and greenery, playgrounds, etc., making it ideal for families, groups, or even those spending time solo. A bronze statue set depicting Ablan Leon, the founder of Leon’s Furniture, seated on a couch with two recliner chairs and a coffee table, was unveiled at the Chippawa Park Rose Garden in 2009.”

“Saint George Park contains lots of slides and climbing equipment for the little ones. The park has an outdoor pool, a covered picnic shelter, various outdoor activities, and fitness equipment. Saint George Park has two kids' playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, a soccer area, multi-level wooden playgrounds, and a wide-open grass field. There is also a swimming pool available, which is open during summer hours. This park is an excellent spot for picnics and kids of all ages. Saint George Park has parking with access to good road cycling routes along the Welland River and is complemented by a charming park and pond.

MERRITT ISLAND PARK REVIEWS

Merritt Island is beautiful if you are riding like I was there is an upper and a lower trail/path. The lower one runs right beside the water pretty much. 0ne other thing I was happy about is how the trees canopy over top of the trail which kept the sun off my back. It's a great place to bring the family for a picnic by the water or that special someone. It is hands down my favorite spot in Welland so far.

Great place to go for walks, picnics, playground for the kids, or just to enjoy nature. Restrooms: Doors are sometimes locked.

Love this walking path! It’s great if you’re looking for a long distance walk. Path is paved and well maintained.

CHIPPAWA PARK REVIEWS

It's such a beautiful Park. It has a beautiful pond With a fountain in the middle, It has 2 parks, one for little ones and 1 for big ones. It also has a volleyball area to play. They also have picnic tables areas for people to have birthday parties. It's a really great place to go.

This is a park where you can comfortably exercise with children. Multiple people can also barbecue together. There is a baseball field and playground so everyone from children to adults can use it.

They have pinic areas that have a rare thing to see. An outdoor fireplace that actually works.

SAINT GEORGE PARK REVIEWS

Cute little park, also has a swimming pool open during summer hours. Park itself is clean and in good condition, no issues that I'm aware of and we frequent this park often. Also has a gazebo with picnic benches. Great for kids of all ages. Quiet neighbourhood as well and not usually very busy. Has swings, both baby and regular, but no handicap swing unfortunately. Would recommend this park to anyone looking for a smaller, quiet area. Playground: The playground is in good shape, nothing broken or damaged, and nothing appearing unsafe about it. Lots of variety, different slides, 2 different jungle gyms for different ages. Swings for both toddlers/infants and kids/adults. Restrooms: Restrooms are located inside the pool building so unsure if they are open 24/7 year round or not. Dog-friendliness: Always see lots of dogs here, no signage stating otherwise, but as always don't have your dog off-leash if they don't have a proper recall. Picnic area: Lots of picnic benches under gazebos, great for birthday parties as well.

Great space for free parking with access to good road cycling routes along the Welland River and a lovely park and pond. Did not use the pool but it looked well maintained.

Free swimming, vast open well kept fields with a older baseball diamond. Lots of pavilions for multiple events to go at once. Great place to spend the afternoon in summer.
