This past February, I had my shoot with Sherry, that I had waited over 10 years to finally book. Over that decade, I had paused many times before contacting Sherry for one reason or another (“I don’t look how I want to look, I just had my kids, pandemic, etc.”). Due to health issues and an upcoming surgery, I knew it was time. I wanted to commemorate this journey, and this version of myself. The lead up: Sherry was wonderful to work with. She provided clear communication, details, PDF’s of best practices and tips, a questionnaire and a conversation dedicated to what my vision of the session was, any questions I had, and advice and guidance from her. The day of: I arrived to a beautiful space, had my hair and make-up done, and laid out my outfit options which Sherry help me to figure out what would look best. (the outfit I least expected to like, was my favourite on camera!…as Sherry had recommended) The shoot: I was very nervous, but Sherry is a professional through and through. The shoot was all of the things you hope for on a surface level and so much more. It was fun, I felt glamorous, I trusted in Sherry 100% and she exceeded all of my expectations. She coached me and directed my poses in a thoughtful and sensitive way. My confidence kept building as the day went on- to a point where I felt like we made some really beautiful, raw, magic with the last series of photos. Sherry is a wonderful person, who takes deep pride in her work. There are so many reasons to wait, but I am so glad I finally did it. I won’t be waiting another decade to take the damn photos.
