Mount Thom Park is a peaceful wooded area offering hiking trails to the valley's summit and scenic views. It also offers challenging hiking opportunities with over 5kilometres of trails accessible from three parking areas in Ryder Lake. The park covers the 70-hectare wooded area, including the 484 metre Mount Thom summit and slopes that offer Promontory and Cultus Lake's spectacular views. The park is also a great spot for bird watching as Bald Eagles and flocks of Ravens. Many local varieties often appear at the peak, more so in the summertime. Mount Thom Park is a perfect place to see the city while getting some great exercise.

Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve is one of the nature destinations in Chilliwack, BC. The park covers 325-acre offers an interpretive centre and trails. The Reserve is one of the largest heron nesting colonies in the Lower Mainland. Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve features hiking, biking, fishing, and dogs walks. These trails are well marked for the user. It has many trails which are accessible year-round. Users can also enjoy the bird's feeding area with hummingbirds, juncos, chickadees, and woodpeckers. The trails have benches along the way; you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. The shop has several stuffed bird displays to look at, along with items for sale. The cost of entry is your donation to the reserve.

Chilliwack Community Forest has a multi-use trail system for hiking, biking and running. The trails consist of a 2.5 km beginner-level trail loop and some easy trail loops. With its number of trails, peace, and natural beauty, the Community Forest has something for all ages and fitness levels. The trails are marked which are easy to access through the gorgeous rain forest. There are also bike trails for experienced and beginners. Chilliwack Community Forest has an excellent picnic area with a nice pump track in the middle.
