“Mount Thom Park is a peaceful wooded area offering hiking trails to the valley's summit and scenic views. The park also provides challenging hiking opportunities with over 5 kilometres of trails accessible from three parking areas in Ryder Lake. There are lengthy walking and cycling trails available. The park covers a 70-hectare wooded area, including the 484-metre Mount Thom summit and slopes, which offer spectacular views of Promontory and Cultus Lake. The park has sports fields, event areas, and outdoor gathering spots. The park is also an excellent spot for bird watching as it is home to Bald Eagles and flocks of ravens. Mount Thom Park is a perfect place to see the city while getting some great exercise.

“Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve park covers 325 acres and offers an interpretive centre and trails. The reserve hosts one of the largest heron nesting colonies in the Lower Mainland. Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve features hiking, biking, fishing, and dog walks. These trails are well-marked for users. The reserve has many trails that are accessible year-round. Users can enjoy the bird feeding area with hummingbirds, juncos, chickadees, and woodpeckers. The trails have benches along the way, where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. The shop has several bird displays, along with items for sale. The cost of entry is your donation to the reserve.

2025 Update: Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve park has five scenic trails, including boardwalks, benches, a lookout tower, scenic footbridges, viewing blinds and lookout points.”

MOUNT THOM PARK REVIEWS

Great Trails. You can either make it a medium length hike or a short hike depending on whether you start at the north side or the south side. Beautiful views for little effort. However watch out for the old guy walking his dog off leash. Ran up to our dog on leash who is a bit dog aggressive and then yelled at us to let his dog go ahead of us.

Great maintained hike, two trails one from promontory which is a little longer to hike to reach the view point or another trail from Ryder lake which is a lot shorter. Perfect view and dog friendly.

Amazing 45 min hike via Lookout Loop. Hilly part way but good trails with a great view making this a really nice hike kids can enjoy.

GREAT BLUE HERON NATURE RESERVE REVIEWS

Love this place! Very well maintained and we see new trails and improvements every year. The trails are well kept, flat and easy to walk for all ages. The educational programs are fantastic and this is a great place to spot and learn about local nature (especially the birds and frogs which are easy to find and fun for kids to spot!).

Beautiful park year round for walking, enjoying nature, and bird watching. Well kept and the volunteers are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this park in all seasons too. Some of the nesting area trails are closed from March for a bit but otherwise it’s open year round. So relaxing.

Wonderful nature reserve! The river has very clear water. As a birder, there are many beautiful birds as well. Great place for hikers and photographers.

PEACH PARK REVIEWS

Awesome river chill spot right next to the park. This has been a favorite access point to the Rotary Trail. Open trail, easy, big trees and excellent view! At some points the river is accessible, other points the river is a way off or you are walking under trees. Lots of shade. Easy access to the Vedder River. We were able to fish. Great access to the river for fishing or fun.

Great spot along the river with beautiful views. Must be 50 plus eagles and thier babies all over the river area and in the trees. Our dogs enjoyed the walk too.

Great for biking, nice playground, nice for walking, beautiful place for families to hang out. Handy to have washrooms and a water filling station at the playground.
