“Bass Lake Provincial Park offers swimming, boating, and other lake activities at this picturesque park and campsite. This park has 4 kilometres of a cross-country ski trail. Picnic shelters and a day-use area are available. The park's fields and trails suit skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Bass Lake Provincial Park has access to washrooms, and three of its four campgrounds have a shower building located inside the campground. Bass Lake Provincial Park features both electrical and non-electrical campsites. The site is approximately a 10-minute walk from the day-use and beach area along the park walking trail.

2025 Update: The park has a 2.8 km hiking trail.”

“Scout Valley Trail is perfect for walking, hiking, and biking. The trail is located 2 kilometres west of Orillia. Although you can start and finish at different points, users can explore the three interconnected trails from three parking lots. You can view the traditional retreating Ice Age Lake Algonquin shoreline, including much of south-central Ontario. Scout Valley Trail is a 5.5-kilometre moderately trafficked loop trail. The trail provides interpretive signage along portions of the trail and well-marked lookout spots. This makes the trail an excellent place to observe, photograph, and learn about the community’s indigenous ecosystem.

2025 Update: Scout Valley Trail has a wheelchair accessibility entrance.”

BASS LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK REVIEWS

Lake/beach has a nice and safe area for kids to enjoy. There is not any extensive trail network but it is sufficient for a fun experience. Overall facilities at this location are good. Bathrooms were sometimes at very far distances from some sites. Staff is very friendly. There is traffic noise at some of the campsites as they are close to the road, but it wasn’t too bothersome. I enjoyed the park’s proximity from GTA.

This park is small but I was very surprised at how beautiful the beach was. One very small trail, about a 30 minute hike. The main beach is stunning with canoe and kayak rentals for a very decent price right next door at the Ontario Park store. I would definitely recommend this park if you are looking to grab a canoe/kayak and do some lake exploring!

HIKING DAY COMPLETE WITH LAKE, BOARDWALK, HISTORICAL DATA, RUINS, WILDLIFE, AND SO MUCH MORE! Attended on a cool spring day during COVID therefore camping was blocked off. Lake was accessible. Park was open to enjoy. Trails are well identified. Conquered the hill!! See if you can too!!

SCOUT VALLEY TRAIL REVIEWS

Lots of beautiful trails to choose from ensuring that you are alone and dont often bump into others even at it's busiest. Lots of wildlife and nature to see and teach your young children about. My kids love going for a nature walk on the trails! Its beautiful, clean and well taken care of. Glad we found this spot!!

We were delighted today to see so many new signs and arrows and maps along the trails. It made our hike in the snow so much more enjoyable. And the maps and descriptions of the terrain and difficulty of each trail was so helpful. Thank you for all the work this required. It makes a huge difference.

Did the beginner trail since it was our first time there. The lookout tower near the end had a horribly obstructed view of Simcoe. Trees have grown too tall to actually see anything. Otherwise it is a nice place and we plan on going back to try out the other trails.

Nice clean,and one of the best campground around Simcoe lake,I highly recommended, regular campground are big enough for 3 big tent ,it has fireplace, washrooms has lights for night using,and also clean,I liked beach as well cause has a clear water and Sandy, ther was a playground for kids close to the beach, also is good as a day use trip,totally for one hour from Toronto it wad a good idea to camp there.

One of the best camping places! RVs, boating, tents, hiking, walking and of course, swimming or just floating around the waters for hours. So many places to explore and if you’re lucky enough to book a site say, on the 150s… you’ll have your own private entrance to the lake!!!!This is one of the best parks, not too big , not noisy, just fun!!

Long picnic area with lots of tables and plenty if shady spots. Sandy beach is clean and lengthy. Nice play structure, close to beach area. Very lovely place for family picnic. Washrooms are clean and easy accessible.
