I have rated my experience as excellent because I got exactly what I expected out of a trip to Bass Lake. What I accomplished was a nice, quiet hike through the park on a hot summer afternoon. While the area around the beach parking lot was busy, a quiet stroll further along the lake was possible. The Waterside Trail does wind its way through a marshy area, as well as uphill through a former homestead. Very pleasant indeed, if all you want to do is hike.

What a terrific place to go hiking anytime of the year! During autumn the leaves fall to the ground and on quite a few of the trails. During the winter it is great to go snowshoeing there. Any other time of the year is also great. Just be careful on some of the trails because there are tree roots that cross the trails. So pay attention where you walk. There are also crevices due to the path of rain travel. An issue that you may encounter is that going onto Old Barrie Road from highways 11 & 12.

I go to the Couch Beach park all summer. It is a great pace to walk on the boardwalk and onto the Lightfoot Trail. There are Festivities run almost every weekend during the summer months. The Scottish Festival, Canada Day, the Antique Boat Show, The Kinsmen Rides and Games weekend and band performances are just a few events that occur there each year. They have a lovely children's playground and moorings for overnight boaters with a new shower and toilet facility.
