“Jackson Park is a sprawling green space with a streamside walking path and a quaint bridge with a pagoda roof. The park has an excellent trail running through the wooded area that walkers and bikers frequently use. Jackson Park Trail has a beautiful, serene natural environment where everyone can relax and be stress-free. There is also a playground with slides and a few swings. Jackson Park is an excellent place to walk, relax, and enjoy the lovely scenery. Jackson Creek runs through the large pond and pagoda bridge, flowing down to the Otonabee River. The trails are always groomed with hills and flat ground. Jackson Park offers free parking.

2025 Update: Admission is free at Jackson Park.”

“2025 Update: Harold Town Conservation Area offers a network of trails available for off-road cycling and hiking, including approximately 10 kilometres of multi-use recreational trails that provide scenic views from the top of the Meade Creek Drumlin. From beginner to advanced, you will find a trail to excite and challenge you. Parking is available on site, and an accessible washroom is available from May to October. Harold Town Conservation Area has approximately 10 kilometres of trails that are ideal for both quick spins and combined laps for epic adventures. You'll find a double track loop trail, with connecting single-track trails, berms, technical rock gardens, switch-back climbs, rock pile features, log hops, bridges, small rock drops and tight turns.”

“Mark S. Burnham Provincial Park is a day-use park, great for a quiet walk in the woods or a family picnic. The park's majestic stands of maple, beech, elm and hemlock are among the oldest in Ontario. This 0.9-mile loop trail is a moderately challenging route that takes 30-60 minutes to complete in the middle of the Peterborough Drumlin Field, containing more than 3,000 of these glacial remnants. Mark S. Burnham Trail has a lightly trafficked loop trail in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, that features beautiful wildflowers. This trail winds through a mature hardwood forest. A picnic shelter with picnic tables is available for use on a first-come, first-served basis.

2025 Update: The best times to visit this trail are October through October.”

JACKSON PARK REVIEWS

The Pièce de résistance in hiking, walking and biking! Numerous offroad trails, plus the main gravel trail that goes through the park and well beyond. The old railway, now part of the Trans Canada Trail. Jackson creek runs through, down to the large pond and pagoda bridge flowing all the way down to the Otanabee River. Enjoyable outings no matter the season.

Really lovely forest trails to walk through, especially during fall. The rivers/creeks that run through the trail are delightful and a perfect spot for your pup to have a drink or a swim if you’re walking the dog. Parking can be a bit iffy, especially on a weekend, but otherwise, it’s fine. Lots of other mini trails all around the place if you look.

I've spent tons of summers here hiking the trails here. Great for taking your dog for a walk or mountain biking in the back woods. Definitely gotta see it if you're looking for nature in Peterborough Picnic area: No tables, but the park around the pond is maintained if you wanna bring a blanket.

HAROLD TOWN CONSERVATION AREA REVIEWS

Great mountain bike hill. Something for everyone. Easy trails available for kids (Porcupine Pie for really young kids, Breakwall and the back side of the mountain for older kids). Overall the trails are very technical, not just a ride in the park. Good for hiking too for the whole family. Watch out for the back side of the hill because it is wet for the beginning of the season until June or so (this year with the downpour it is more likely to be well into July before it is dry back there).

A naturalists heaven, the grounds have a wide variety of paths to explore on bike or on foot. Each with their own quirky name, distance and level of difficulty, this area will have you coming back to explore over and over again. The routes are worth checking out through each season and are fairly well marked. Just be cautious in the spring after the thaw as some passages can become flooded or difficult to pass through.

They have great trails for walking or mountain biking. The parking lot has been expanded in the last few years. There is a washroom available, along with picnic tables. Trails provide a mix of scenery - some open, some forested.

Beautiful park for a short walk. I really enjoyed walking through the long trail. I took my time and and struggled to make it last longer than an hour while I waited for my car to be serviced across the street. Close to highway so there a bit of road noise in the picnic area but otherwise a good spot for that.

Small but very pretty. Nice easy walking trail, we did the big loop twice without breaking a sweat. Maybe don't bring a stroller though, you will be climbing a hill. Gorgeous old trees. We went off season (closed) so parking outside the gate was tricky but we made it work!

Beautiful, relaxing ,park with 2 walking trail loops. Pet and family friendly. Bathrooms are open in the spring summer fall.There is a lovely picnic area for lunch or a great place to pop up a canvas and paint.
