VANCOUVER ISLAND REGIONAL LIBRARY - NANAIMO HARBOURFRONT REVIEWS
This library is great! Staff are friendly and helpful, and the books are great, I always find what book I want. My son especially likes this place, (more so for the for the game lab and computers.) My son says he loves the game lab where there's a nintendo switch with lots of games. This place is very clean and quite big, the books are quite new and not that used, and it's very easy to get what you're looking for. I highly recommend this library.
The staff here are always friendly, the book selection is OK (I'm used to Vancouver!) and the library itself is great. I appreciate the gender neutral bathrooms, indoor plant decor, and all the awesome resources on the second floor! There are 3D printers, a printing press where you can print your own books, and a recording studio. Plus the location is in the heart of downtown, right by the pier, and several cafes... The perfect spots to get lost in a good book.
Blake the librarian went above and beyond in helping me with a (missing) reference book I wanted for some genealogy research. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Blake!!!

The Bastion stands as a timeless local symbol in the third oldest city in British Columbia. Erected in 1853, Hudson's Bay Company labourers meticulously crafted this three-story structure using traditional woodworking methods. Throughout history, this sturdy edifice has been relocated twice due to political and land dealings. Today, it reigns as Nanaimo's most unmistakable landmark. Although the Bastion's original timbers remain intact, its interior showcases the activities of the early mining post from 1853 to 1862. This historical site is the city's oldest structure and enjoys recognition as a Municipal Heritage Site. It has weathered numerous moves, renovations, and changes in ownership, and today, this former Hudson's Bay Company building stands as a living testament to Nanaimo's rich history. The Bastion is an essential stop for anyone visiting Nanaimo and a "must-see" destination. Additionally, group tours of the Bastion can be arranged during the off-season.

THE BASTION REVIEWS
This is a unique place to visit..I personally enjoyed this place and any one that's into historic places put this place on your places to visit...guaranteed you wont be disappointed..cheers..
The most famous historical landmark in Nanaimo. The museum inside is small, three levels, and only open seasonally but entry is free (or by donation) - It's definitely worth a visit when in town during the summer.
Very cool historical location with very knowledgeable staff! They fire the canon at noon during the summer, with the staff dressed in historical garb, so this is a neat experience as well!
