“Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site is a well-maintained historic site in Saint John, NB. The tower has a circular structure, standing 30 feet in height and 60 feet in diameter. The tower is one of the nine surviving Martello Towers in Canada. The site offers various family activities regularly throughout the summer. This tower is one of the oldest buildings in the city and was designated a National Historic Site in 1930. While exploring the award-winning interactive exhibitions, visitors can marvel at the spectacular city views. The high elevation offers a panoramic view of Saint John, its harbour, and the surrounding area. Visitors can experience the building through a new photo slideshow and a touch table of historical objects. Additionally, wheelchair access is available. The Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site offers free parking and can accommodate cars, RVs, and buses.”

Fort Howe National Historic Site of Canada is recognized for its historical importance. The Historic Site of Canada used to sit high on a rock, giving a good view of the harbour and river. During the War of 1812, Fort Howe and the soldiers there played an important role in protecting nearby towns. The site used to be on a hill made of limestone, making it an intelligent defence place. Despite the city's growth, this site has kept its historical importance.”

“Loyalist House is a well-known landmark in Saint John, NB. The landmark is an 18th-century home, and its construction was completed in 1817. This house belonged to the Merritt family and was built in the New England Federalist style, reflecting the cultural background of its owners. Five generations of the Merritt family lived in the home before selling it to the New Brunswick Historical Society in 1958. In 1961, the landmark was opened as a house museum featuring many artifacts that belonged to the Merritt family. Loyalist House remains one of Saint John's few buildings from that era that has never been structurally altered. A friendly and attentive team is available to assist visitors.”
