3 Best French Restaurants in Montreal, QC

Three friends and I had an absolutely wonderful brunch at Brasserie 701 in Old Montréal. We had made a reservation in advance, which was a good idea, although the restaurant wasn’t overly busy—likely due to the heat wave, which actually made things feel even more relaxed and enjoyable. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Old Montréal. Most of us ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. All in all, it was a 10/10 brunch experience. I highly recommend Brasserie 701 to anyone looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting with top-notch service. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a wonderful breakfast experience here! The interior was beautifully luxurious with stylish contemporary touches that made the space feel both elegant and inviting. We ordered a croissant and salmon salad, and both dishes truly impressed us. Even the simple croissant stood out—it was flaky, flavorful, and far above the usual breakfast fare. When I added prosciutto and butter, it became one of the most delicious and unique croissants I’ve ever had. The service was warm and made us feel like valued guests, adding to the overall positive experience. The only downside was that it took quite a while to receive our bill, which was a bit of a hiccup in an otherwise seamless morning.

The environment was amazing, and the quality of the food was excellent. We ordered the salmon and steak — both were incredibly tender with a perfectly balanced taste. The sauce for the salmon was absolutely heavenly. I also tried the Coco Fraise mocktail, which was delicious; the coconut flavor was very pronounced, and I really loved it. We were celebrating our anniversary, and for dessert, we ordered a crème brûlée, which the restaurant kindly offered on the house. It made our experience even more special. We’ve been here on a Thursday night and this place was packed! Despite this fact, the service was amazingly quick and very good! They seem to be pretty good organized. Sadly they moved from the old location, on the top level, with a really awesome view over Montreal, to the ground floor. But even if the view is no longer that great, the atmosphere of the restaurant is still good. I had the Crab Fritters as a starter, Connecticut Style Seafood Roll for main course and the the Pudding Chaumeur for dessert. Starter and main course were good, but the dessert was really outstanding! Absolutely loved it. Will come again!

Great patio, most importantly very pet friendly. They waiter brought water for our boy same time he brought water for us… The drinks are good and reasonable prices. We ordered couple of appetizers and fish and chips all three items had great presentation and taste.

Nice place with a spectacular view of Montreal! Food was great! The meat of the burger is a bit thick but it was very tasty and the fries were amazing (I wish they’d offer a smash burger). The deserts are amazing too.
