The owner of this restaurant was so friendly and charming. JOIE Grillades wanted to set the menu for them while presenting them with an array of delicious dishes and desserts. The atmosphere was perfect for a date night, and the service and the dishes were tasty. They provide personable customer service with serious attention to guests' needs, having French tapas specialists for knowing about their dishes. BRASSERIE L'ECOLE REVIEWS

Hands down the best dining experience in the city. Their attention to detail and making sure every one of their guests has a special night out is something you won’t find anywhere else. That and the menu is amazing. French onion soup, endive salads, any of the steak options. Paired with the perfect wine. I honestly look forward to every meal here.

Excellent service (always!!) and such great food. It's a bit of a twist on a steakhouse, meets French bistro and we always love the steak frites (can't go wrong) and the burger is probably the best in the city! Nice selection and rotation of wines and desserts as well.

The best French restaurant in town. Food and service are outstanding and such a cool design! So many lovely details in the decoration. Great experience, we’ll come back again definitely.

Favorite area in Victoria Oak Bay area. Quiet and elegant ambiance. Generous portions, surprising combinations like the Steak Sandwich resembling a pizza-steak fusion, Grilled Marinated Octopus offering a salad-centric cold dish, and Scallops Soufflé presenting a delightful blend of seafood chowder and scallops.

We ended up here when the Penny Farthing wasn’t taking any more reservations. This place is soooo good! And the two restaurants are sisters - same kitchen - but this food is French and fabulous! We had the duck, the gnocchi, and the beef stew. Yum.

First time dining here this weekend and was very pleasantly surprised it lived up to the hype! Best french onion soup I've ever had and escargot was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

The food was exquisite. I still can’t get over how amazing the food was. The waiter was exceptional. My husband and I wasn’t celebrating anything special but our waiter made the dining experience a memorable one. I had a hard time deciding on what to order and our waiter prepared something special. I had a shrimp and scallop dish with a sauce that I could drink-it was that good! I had lamb prepared 2 ways-the spicy nut and a mustard Dijon-the spicy nut was so good. I don’t usually like beans but I would eat a whole plate of JOIE’s beans! I wish I had room for dessert! Next time.

Wonderful! A nice quiet venue allows for conversation. French cuisine, and service was unique with Laurent recommending 3 shared "surf and turf" courses for our group of four. Everything was a taste sensation, perfectly prepared seafood, beef and lamb. Expensive, but a place for a real treat or special occasion.

Good place for excellent food and mood. The lighting is dim and the music is romantic. Good for a party with good laughs or just the two of you. Very very nice service too. You'll enjoy it.
