“The Japanese Village Restaurant has been offering authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine in the heart of Downtown Victoria for more than twenty-five years. The restaurant provides top-quality fresh food and absolutely fantastic service. They also have a couple of tricks they toss in to make it a little more entertaining to watch. Their staff make you feel like you are at home. Their sesame chicken and teriyaki beef are served with a combo of marinated, deep-fried chicken and grilled slices of sirloin. Their teriyaki sauce includes shabu soup. The Japanese Village Restaurant has a private dining room, serves vegan dishes, has a free wi-fi connection, and has full bar services.

There is a cozy, fenced-off patio that is perfect for dining with pets. The attentive staff ensures a safe and welcoming environment, especially for gluten-free diners. There is a raised seating area by the Yates Street windows, while another area at the back is currently closed due to staffing shortages. The extensive, double-sided menu features a variety of offerings, including soups, Japanese salads, Temaki (hand cones), tempura, bowls (with or without noodles), Oshi-Zushi (pressed sushi), numerous sushi rolls, sashimi, a range of grilled seafood, A5 Wagyu beef, and a selection of desserts. We love the food here. Their services is amazing. They are quite attentive and provide the best services where possible. The atmosphere is great. Reservation is recommended. We got lucky they had availability at the bar. We ordered quite a bit of food. The only thing I may not like best is the ramen. The texture is a bit too soft and the bamboo shoots overtakes the miso soup flavour. I loved the tomato curry rice.

It was our second time in this place. It is a very good restaurant. We like Japanese food. And in this place it's so delicious. For the main, we ordered poke with salmon and ramen with beef. It was so so good. Thank you. We will come back for sure.

Nice atmosphere during dinner, we sat at the bar which was fun. Lots of options and everything we had was tasty. The Unagi bowl was yummy, but very hot which made it challenging to eat. We went during the dinner rush without a reservation and got a seat in around 40 minutes. Staff was really friendly.

For 30 yrs I've been going here always love both the experience and the amazing food ~ that ginger steak sauce is crazy good! Cool sharing the larger tables and meeting interesting new people. Took our boys here for the first time tonight and both couldn't stop talking about the great food prepared right before thier eyes and many laughs provided by our hilarious chef, I highly recommend if you've never been.

We went to celebrate a birthday party with a friend of mine, the whole family. It was amazing same as always. We’ve been coming to this place not so often but afternoon after to keep remember it’s always fantastic food great service highly recommended.

Great lunch. Tea was great. Tempura appetizer was light and delicious with a great dipping sauce. Mushrooms were excellent with great flavour. The shrimp was delicious and cooked perfectly. The best part by far was the scallops... holy were they to die for. I cannot wait to be back!

We had a wonderful experience! The meals were absolutely amazing — full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with high-quality ingredients. The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere added even more to the experience, creating a warm and inviting setting. We truly enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back!

First visit for us recommended by family, friendly staff, good food and we found 1hr free parking at the parkade. Got to enjoy their great lunch specials, a taste of everything, beautiful presentation, and good portions. Perfect if they had complimentary green tea.

Larry was our server and helped us navigate their extensive menu, he was the best! The food was so fresh and delicious. Sit outside on a nice night, its lovely.
