The park is an excellent place for hiking year round with quite a few trails that go down to or near the Old Man River. There are several good playgrounds for children with picnic sites and washrooms in the spring, summer and fall. Watch the trains from the park as they travel over the high level bridge which is the longest bridge for it's height in the world! Skip stones on the Old Man river waters edge or enjoy a park bench along the way.

As always, outdoor activities are better done on a warm, not so windy day. Lots of trails and hikes into the coulees along the Old Man river. Enjoyed every minute of it. You may see lots of birds, owls, deer, and beavers. I once even caught a picture of a flowering cactus.

Watch for rattlesnakes, but this is one of the most beautiful places in the world to walk dogs if you like the rugged beauty of our landscape like I do. Instead of bright colors, we have gorgeous shapes and shades. There is also a large enclosed area in case your pet is still a bit too adventurous to run free.
