“Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area is a natural area that covers 100 acres with walking trails, picnic areas, a pond for ducks and geese, and a memorial forest. This refuge is a sizable wetland providing a habitat for many plant and bird species, including migratory waterfowl. There are 2.5 kilometres of trails in this natural habitat area open year-round and managed by the St. Clair Conservation Authority. Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area offers access to the river valley's west side, where you can see many of the area's indigenous plants and animals.

2025 Update: Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area has critical habitat for over 220 species of resident and migrating birds. The park is also home to over 700 species of plants and a variety of fish, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.”

“Blackwell Trails Park features three kilometres of natural trails. These trails are popular among hikers, walkers, joggers, and cyclists. You will walk through clear grassy fields or wetlands, making for a relaxing stroll with beautiful views. Blackwell Trails Park has a 3.5-acre fully enclosed dog park and a fully accessible playground. The trail is easy to walk and can be used even on rainy days. Blackwell Trails Park is an excellent, easy trail system with different loops connected. Wheelchair access is available here. The park offers parking.

2025 Update: Blackwell Trails Park has wide gravel paths and beautiful scenery with trees, wildflowers, and tall grasses. These trails easily connect to the Howard Watson Nature Trail for those seeking a longer walk.”

“Perch Creek Habitat Management Area covers 200 acres of property, including floodplain and upland forest, hedgerows, open meadows, and wetlands. This Habitat Management Area is owned by Lambton County and managed by the local conservation authority. Perch Creek Habitat Management Area features over 5 kilometres of trails that take the hiker through various habitats. You can also view beautiful sunset and sunrise views. The more difficult trails are at the valley's top, while the easier ones are at the bottom. Perch Creek Habitat Management Area also has a picnic area with plenty of activities for kids.”

WAWANOSH WETLANDS CONSERVATION AREA REVIEWS

This is a beautiful place which is only a short drive away. It is a great place to get some sunshine and exercise. I would highly recommend just walking a loop with a friend or maybe even a furry friend to really enjoy your time here. Such gorgeous scenery, and a good way to take a break from the city. The noise pollution is minimal except for when you walk the trail closest to the highway. There are also many benches throughout the trails if you need to sit to take a rest, or if you’re looking just to appreciate your surroundings!

I haven't ever had a bad experience here, even on my worst days, I'll use this location to get away from the day to day and just spend time with my girls! They love running the trails and playing together. First time yesterday to ever canoe the ponds though, very peaceful and tranquil! Will definitely be going back soon!

A great outdoor space if you want to get away from the city for a bit. Nice trails, places to have a picnic, and you can often observe some incredible local wildlife. We're lucky to have this green space!

BLACKWELL TRAILS PARK REVIEWS

Great place to walk, run, and bring the kids! Nice scenery when you. Along the way there are variety stores if you need drinks or snacks! Parking: Plenty of space to park. There is a Timmies, variety store, and Shoppers drug store close by! Have fun! Public Transportation: There's a bus route nearby, and taxi service! Dog-friendliness: Plenty a space for large and small dogs!

Easy access trail, on a gravel path. The access gates prevent wheelchair access, however. There are small hills, when taking the smaller trail loops, but the outer loop of the trail is very flat. A great place to see the geese & ducks gather, before flying south for the winter.

Trails are easy to walk and a good walking distance! You meet very friendly people and their puppers. Leash free dog areas are very well maintained and spacious for dogs to run. Beautiful walk in Sarnia.

PERCH CREEK HABITAT MANAGEMENT AREA REVIEWS

I never give 5 stars but this trail is worth it I think. It's well maintained, quiet and yet close from the city. Good 3km hike of grass floor surrounded by nature. Make sure to bring insect repellent and wear long sleeves.

I really love this little place! Winter is my favorite season to enjoy this habitat area. In the summer it can be bug filled, but it's great for a winter walk! We snowshoe when possible and it's a great trail for that as well.

A very nice walk with some wide paths. The small parking lot was full by the time I finished my walk, but it did not feel busy on the paths. I will be back to explore some more!
