Avoid this company!!! We trusted JL Builders with our custom build home in 2018. When the siding they installed began to warp shortly after installation, they assured us that they would take care of it at our one-year touch ups. It took YEARS for them to file a warranty claim with the siding manufacturer, who eventually performed an inspection and denied the claim due to improper installation. Initially JL Builders seemed willing to fix the siding, even negotiating the percentages of the areas that they were responsible for redoing, however they wanted to charge us for the labour again. We disagreed with this as we had already paid them once for the labour that was done incorrectly, leading to the warping, and sought quotes from other businesses. When we approached JL Builders about reimbursement for the materials, labour, and disposal fees for the damaged siding they began denying responsibility for their poor workmanship, blaming the warped siding on a bad product, despite a warranty report identifying several failures in their installation. The exterior of our house looks awful and is going to cost tens of thousands of dollars to remedy. Buyer beware: JL Builders will take your money, do terrible work, and then try to charge you again to fix their own mistakes while denying they ever were at fault. - Victoria

I am sorry that the siding company did not stand behind their product. This siding was installed according to proper specifications and the company put the blame on us so that they would not have to honor their warranty. The warping was from the sun and not in from the install. The siding manufacturer did drag their feet to come out and look at the project despite our many calls and emails, and when they did , they denied our claim blaming install. We have many pictures and documents to back up our install process as well as the Tarion home warranty program. This house was built 8 years ago. This year we where asked for a quote to repair and gave a price to the customer with a large discount that would cover the cost of replacing the vinyl, but they would like a different product installed that is significantly more money and they are unhappy with our offer. We understand the frustration and wish we could do more to help.

Our dream home turned into a nightmare - don't use this builder. Decided to go with a relatively new builder in JL (in 2018) and within the first year we faced issues that they continually dragged their feet on addressing, most noticeably the siding on our house was installed incorrectly creating warping (pictures attached). They tried filing a warranty claim with the siding manufacturer and when that was rejected, they left us to resolve the issue on our own. Their only solution was to charge us again to fix up the mess they created. You would think most builders would aim to do right by their clients, especially given the amount of money we paid for our dream home, but not JL. They are happy to collect your money and leave you in the dust. - Kevin Lewis
