“Dr. George Papadakis received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry in New York City. He completed internships at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins and the Baltimore Veterans’ Administration Hospital, where he received extensive training in treating and managing eye diseases. In 1993, Dr. George Papadakis started as the Chief Low Vision Clinician at the Scarborough General Hospital Low Vision Centre. He became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, showcasing his leadership in the field. Dr. George Papadakis achieved the status of Clinical Diplomate in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the American Academy of Optometry and one of fewer than 40 worldwide. He has demonstrated dedication through his volunteer work in villages in Mexico, providing eye care to the underprivileged. His group typically sees around 3000 patients weekly, treating eye diseases and distributing donated eyeglasses. Dr. George Papadakis currently practices at Finch Avenue Optometry & Low Vision Centre, where his team specializes in offering high-quality eye care services, including comprehensive eye exams, fitting difficult-to-fit contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, and referrals for laser eye surgery.
Dr. George Papadakis is an active member of the Greek community and is fluent in both Greek and Spanish. Finch Avenue Optometry has a team that includes professional doctors of optometry, opticians, and optical assistants.
