“Dr. Nana Owusu holds degrees in Microbiology from the University of Alberta, Health Studies from McMaster University, and a Doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). At ICO, he earned several awards, including the American Optometric Foundation Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship and the Cribb Leadership & Service Award, while serving as student body president for three years. Dr. Owusu also worked as an adjunct clinical advisor for the ICO Externship Program at a contact lens clinic in Florida. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Gold Key International Honor Society, the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Owusu was elected to the Illinois College of Optometry Board of Trustees and serves on the ICO Alumni Council and student mentorship program. Locally, he is the Vice-President of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. He enjoys treating patients of all ages, with a focus on pediatric care and adults with systemic or eye diseases. Currently, he is practicing at Prairie Eye Care in Winnipeg. The clinic offers various optometric services, including comprehensive and pediatric eye exams, diabetic eye examinations, and visual field testing. Their optometrists speak multiple languages, including English, Cantonese, Polish, Ukrainian, Hindi, Bengali, and Punjabi, to better accommodate their patients.”
