BLAKEBURN LAGOONS PARK

2900 Elbow Place,
Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 7Y4 Directions

Specialty:

Walking Trails Viewing Platforms Public Viewing Wildlife Features and Ecological Restoration Indigenous Shrubs and Groundcover Plants Indigenous Trees

Blakeburn Lagoons Park combines a wildlife sanctuary, a public park, and green infrastructure. Tests at Blakeburn Lagoons Park found high cadmium, copper, lead, and zinc levels in the lagoon sediment, which exceeded safety limits for urban parks. This made cleaning up the site expensive and delayed its redevelopment. They proposed transforming the lagoons into natural, bio-remediating wetlands to help clean the water and support wildlife.

2025 Update: Blakeburn Lagoons Park has more than 100,000 indigenous shrubs and groundcover plants, more than 1,300 indigenous trees and two acres of native grasses. The park has 1.6 kilometres of looped walking trails.
