The staff and volunteers of the museum were informative and very helpful. I love their miner's hat hunt in the coal mines for the kids. It gives history, excitement, and perspective towards the old days. Their exhibits and artifacts of the indigenous people of Nanaimo that's shows their culture and their language was amazing to read and see. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to see a little importanr history in their Nanaimo vacation.
Well curated and educational survey of Nanaimo history. Sections on coal mining, Chinatown(s), and indigenous peoples were particularly well done. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
It was way more interesting than I expected for a small island town's civic museum. Really enjoyed my visit (and learned some new things). Well curated.
