3 Best Retirement Homes in Newmarket, ON

Finding a retirement home for our parents is never an easy task or decision. After all we want what is best for them. I toured or spoke to every retirement home in the area and Amica just felt right. As corny as it sounds, the staff, the bright atmosphere, their amenities, just made Amica Newmarket a place for my mom to live and thrive. Pool, library, puzzle and games room, arboretum, Internet cafe, a pub, excursions and daily activities, and community of peers. So much to make every day and exciting one. Throughout the entire process, multiple tours, being able to test / enjoy the dining experience, and answering a whirlwind of questions, all the staff have been amazing. I am sure I will have more to write after my mom has moved in and has had a chance to live and explore the Amica experience. However, for now, she and the rest of the family are super excited for her to move in.

Our dad moved into Amica almost three years ago. He was very sad to leave his home but the transition to Amica was wonderful thanks to Sheena and all of the staff who were there to interact with him and support him through this transition. He had a lovely suite and was able to live as independently as possible at this stage in his life. He particularly enjoyed it when people came to visit his suite, including the wonderful PSWs who always made time to chat as they went about their business. We had peace of mind knowing he was safe and happy. He met lots of new friends, had lovely meals with a core group each day, and particularly enjoyed movie nights and concerts Amica provided. Dad loved to cook and was pleased to have the freedom to bake cookies, brownies and muffins in the community kitchen (he was called "the muffin man" and would share with anyone interested)! Sadly dad passed away in October and we wish to thank the staff at Amica for providing him with such a supportive and inclusive environment to live out his final days. Heather Jelley and Murray .

I was very fortunate to have such a positive experience during my rehab at The Roxborough in April of this year. It is spear headed by Melanie. Melanie was in contact with me from setting the initial meeting to explain what was offered and allowed me to put my possessions in early to accommodate my surgery schedule. The staff on a whole were also very polite as was my case with the night attendants. Bringing more ice at night and adding a couple of cookies to tide me over. I would highly recommend The Roxborough for anyone's recuperation.

I want to thank the management and staff at the Roxborough for making my mother feel like she is part of a larger family. The fun costume parties and other planned events are reflective of the energy and positivity that each and every staff member from dining room to management put forth. The Roxborough has been second to none in maintaining the safety of it's residents during Covid, it has given us great peace of mind that our mother is happy and safe.

The Roxborough has been home to my parents for the past 10 years. Never has it been clearer to me the care and attention they receive from everyone at the Roxborough than over the past pandemic year. The residence's extensive and careful measures have kept my parents safe and well. All the while, the staff and management have consistently taken extra steps to ensure my parents' daily needs are met. Under normal circumstances, not only has the Roxborough felt like home to them, but also to me, my brothers and our families. We have always been welcomed and accommodated. I feel strongly that residing at the Roxborough has added quality years to my parents' life and provided them the security, comfort and luxury they deserve.
