THE CHINESE MARTYRS CATHOLIC CHURCH

2755 Denison Street, Markham, ON L3S 2J3 DIRECTIONS

Since 1987

Here’s The Deal:
The Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church is a national Catholic church in the Greater Toronto Area for Chinese Catholics. Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church was planned and approved by the Archbishop in 1987. The first mass was held at the Divine Infant Catholic School hall, and the first parish council was formed by April 1988. The church had about 200 parishioners participating in the mass at that time. After years, several committees were formed, including RCIA/C, Sunday School, etc., to serve the community. As the number of parishioners increased, space was running out at the school hosting the Sunday mass. In August 1989, a Parish Building Committee was formed. The parish borrowed Blessed Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School as an alternate venue for masses. After years of collecting funds, the new church with 900 seatings was completed. The church is serving the growing and expanding parish community with an optimistic and hard-working attitude.
