Food was great. Tried the easiest plate to order on my first time: chef’s raft. I would definitely go back and try other menus next time. However, I wouldn’t wait an hour on the line to get in. Online booking recommended. The restaurant has quite dark atmosphere and it is crowded and noisy which wasn’t great for my young child. Service was also good enough but there are room for improvement.

I went in a group of 10 people to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Really enjoyed eating fresh & thick cuts of sashimi and creative sushi rolls ! Quite a vibrant and noisy sorta vibe, service staff was always ready to serve more hot tea which i love. Dessert was surprisingly yummy too! Can’t wait to be back.

A local recommended this restaurant and it certainly did not disapoint. Place was lively for a Monday (lunch), had to wait a few mins to sit down as the place was full. The lunch special oferred great value and variety. Other menu items were equallty good - ordered the specialy sushi and oishi maki's. Overall, this is a good Japanese restaursnt in the neighborhood that's why its packed.

NANA SUSHI REVIEWS

I called in en route to my ferry reservation, said I was tight for time and had not seen the menu yet. Quickly walked me through finding three items over the phone that I would like, and prepared my order even faster than the 15 minutes they said they needed. Now I’m sitting here on time in the line up with the first bite of my first roll and a moan audibly escaped my lips in a food orgasm. I don’t review often, but I would give six stars if I could. If you have a choice of sushi spots from which to pick, pick this one.

Was astounded with how good the food was. Had the appetizer tempura and the Chashu Nagasaki Champon. The champon broth was so rich and the pork belly was cooked perfectly imo. Staff was great in providing anything we needed. Very quaint little spot to eat. Although , next time I think I will sit further away from the window as I was overheating . All in all great little gem in Nanaimo. Highly recommend!

Fresh and Delicious Sushi! Loved the option to have real crab! Everyone was so sweet and got there just in time to get takeout since they close for a long break at 2:30pm.

WA-KU JAPANESE RESTAURANT REVIEWS

Overall a great experience.. friendly greeting as I entered, server was helpful and nice, and the ramen was delicious. My only suggestion would be to add a bit more broth to the bowls, which could add a bit more value for the price. Definitely worth a try if you like ramen and live in Nanaimo Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access, with parking right out front.

I never thought that I would find a restaurant of this caliber on Vancouver Island but I stumbled on this incredible little place! real authentic Japanese food served by all Japanese staff this isn’t your run of the mill Chinese or Korean owned Japanese restaurant, this is the same food and quality as you’d expect in Japan and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, the flavours incredible, the service is fast friendly and unforgettable. Anytime I’m on the Island I will go out of my way to come here, it’s that good!

Very solid Tonkotsu ramen. Really hit the spot. Sapporo beer on tap. I would have loved to try the curry as well. Great selection of items on the menu. If I lived near here it would definitely be a go-to spot. A side note: they do not take American Express.
