Heritage site (well-maintained) complete with botanical garden, artifacts, reconstructions, digital audio/visual presentations, artwork (painted reproductions, wooden sculptures, etc., etc.), and reenactment of soldiers (full garb) marching through the streets. There is much to see and sample, including guided activities that offer real insight into the realities facing habitants and nobility of the time. Kids are welcome, though parents must secure a calm and polite exploration of the premises' offerings. I visited for 2.5 hrs with my two boys, aged 4 and 6. They loved it! There is a chest containing articles of clothing from the epoch. Especially neat were the wooden clogs, available in adult and children's sizes). A glimpse into our past and heritage. Well worth the time.
It is very entertaining and fun to know a little history, it is a good place to bring children. you can hear a bit of history in some languages, the governor's house is very beautiful and takes you for a moment to the past showing you objects from before! I think it is very good that they show us the history of Montreal! highly recommended.
We went on the guided tour. It was very interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Great experience.
