OAK BAY RECREATION CENTRE REVIEWS

It has a very good location and has a parking lot which is usually very busy. There are places to lock bikes and skateboard (indoor). It has swimming pool, good size fitness/weight room, arena for hockey and ice skating, 4 vending machines (drinks and snacks), many activities/lessons for kids, youth and adults, sauna and hot tub… Employees are friendly and helpful. Showers can be used for $3,5 (this info for travellers and people who lives in their vans). Over all rather than it being very busy, it is a great facility, always clean.

My favourite pool on the island. Best steam room, best hot tub, usable pool. Needs more lifeguards to accommodate the amazing hours of operation prior to pandemic. 1:00AM at the hot tub with dim lighting and vibe music where else are you getting that.

Great recreation centre. Have to be a bite strategic on when you arrive as it can get busy. Both the pool and gym are well maintained and clean. I look forward to the renovations that are planned , making this great facility even better.

JUAN DE FUCA RECREATION CENTRE REVIEWS

Love their fitness room and the pool. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially AJ, she is always so cheerful and patient. Thank you for explaining the UMO card to me, really appreciate it. In general, the recreation centre is well kept and maintained.

This place was incredibly holding for our family while living nomadically in the island. The library, the pool, the playgrounds, the nature spots, its all nearby, are really well kept and family friendly.

My partner and I enjoy golfing at the Juan de Fuca golf course. It is a Par3 9 hole well maintained course. Yardage of the holes ranges from 79 yards to 170 yards. There are 7 ponds throughout the course. You don't need a Tee off time, you can show up and get on the course quite quickly. Green fees are quite affordable.

CEDAR HILL RECREATION CENTRE REVIEWS

A great community place. Good gym, sport facilities, crafts and dance. I enjoy the 4km walk around the golf course. I have done it in all seasons. At the north end there is a beautiful ponds full of wildlife, mallards, wood ducks, turtles.

Good views of Cedar Hill Park. Many kinds of facilities - squash courts, indoor tennis courts, cardio/weight room, arts centre, art displays, cafeteria. Nice place for the Arts. Gallery, studios for Visual Arts, summer camp, lessons & activities for seniors, & outdoor activities. Must check their programs online to make sure space is available. We rented this place for 160 people and ordered food from outside. Staff was very cooperative and set the tables as requested a day then took them down when we were done. Great pricing as well.

The gym is smallish, but sufficient and affordable. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. The equipment is well cleaned and maintained. They offer a variety of classes, ranging from exercise to pottery. The Cedar Hill chip trail (3.5 km), around the golf course, is a great way to start or end a visit to the Rec Centre.
