3 Best Retirement Homes in Sudbury, ON

It is with great pleasure that I am writing this Google review of the Southwind Chartwell retirement residence in Sudbury’s south end. I am so relieved and happy to find this wonderful place for my grandmother and dad. I looked at so many retirement homes for the ‘right fit.’ Then, I finally found the Southwind with its AMAZING STAFF, so friendly and kind. I have had the privilege of taking a tour with Ashley McCarvell and my family and I were impressed because of the friendly verbal prompts to all residents. Also, all of the staff knew all of the residents on a personal level. My granny and dad feel safe - this is so important to me. The residents and staff are like a big family. The staff have so many superb qualities that made the transition so much better during this time of stress. Finally, our family is not stressed and feel secure in knowing that our loved ones are very well looked after. The manager should be commended for doing an exemplary job in terms of her ability to hire friendly, compassionate and dedicated staff who help older folks with their social, emotional and physical needs. Our family is so impressed that there are so many built in services for our granny and dad. For example, the place is so clean, there are fun activities everyday, exercises, hair salon, nails, great social activities and a Christmas supper where family is invited! Flexibility, patience, good listening skills as well as an appreciation of others’ opinions are traits that the Chartwell team demonstrates on a regular basis. So happy that my loved ones call this place home!

Having worked at Chartwell Southwind for the past 20 years, I knew that it would be the right fit for my Aunt Joan who relocated from Toronto to Sudbury after being isolated in her condo for the last three years.Ashley McCarvell the RLC at Chartwell Southwind assisted me every step of the way including finding me vendors to assist with the move and sale of her condo . My Aunt’s quality of life has improved since her arrival. The employees at the Southwind have been instrumental in helping her transition into her new home spending time one on one with her when she is having an off day. As a family member, I am relieved to see that all her needs are being met including meals, medications, housekeeping, and laundry. The social aspect has been great as well as she has started coming out to activities and meeting new people. Chartwell Southwind really lives up to “Making peoples lives better”

We are looking for a home for an aging parent. Southwind retirement home displays a very warm atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door. Ashley the retirement living consultant answered all our questions with such patience, knowledge and in a friendly manner. The staff and management seem helpful in inquiring about the residents personal needs and trying to make them feel at home. We were given a tour of the facility several times and they were very accommodating. Jennifer the RN was embracing and reassuring during the wellness check. Thankful for a great experience.
