Grande Spirit Foundation

Wow! Just realized, recently, that in one way or another and through many of my former students, their families, my mother-in-law (who passed on at 99 years young), service organizations, my Rotarian acquaintances, (really the list goes on), I have been working with the Grande Spirit Foundation since the day it opened its doors. Now, without disclosing private details like my age (FYI...I was born in the decade before the Beatles first appeared on American television!!!), I must admit that we are covering not just years but decades...anyhow, the Grande Spirit Foundation is amazing. They have helped countless individuals; contacting the Foundation is always a positive experience; the concern is genuine, sympathetic and full of empathy; the help is gracious and confidential. Don't get me wrong...sometimes the decision is made to turn requests for help away but, to be fair, the Foundation tries to always examine each request in the light of its mandate. It is my feeling that Grande Prairie, Alberta is incredibly lucky to have this Foundation (and many others, if you stop to think about that). Many rural areas, hamlets, towns, even Native reserves, do not have a Foundation nearby to turn to which has, at its core, the mandate and responsibility to assist those most in need. Thank-you Grande Spirit Foundation, its supporters and staff.
