Felt very authentic. Food was great not too sweet not too savory. Wish I had the stomach for a milkshake. Did take a while to get the food but I guess that’s what you get for an amazing meal….. lovely diner, lovely food, great vibes.

We have been going to Zak’s for about 25 years now. It is an “old standby” for us that must go to, when we are near the Byward Market. The menu is quite extensive, with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The staff is usually overworked, but they do a great job of taking care of a LOT of people.

I arrived ambivalent whether or not if I could find a convenant place. I took a burger, poutine and Milk Shake. The service was fast and the food good. The retro ambiance is kind of reverberative.

- Would strongly recommend. - My friend and I got the Dagwood and the Hungry Human. The portion sizes are huge for what you pay for ($23 for the Dagwood). Big fan of the shoestring fries. - Service was excellent and they accommodated my dietary restriction - Went on Saturday @11am. Was told the wait would be 45 mins but was fortunately let in within 30 mins. Debit or cash only.

In addition to the uniquely great food, I love the social engagement of the restaurant: it feels inclusive and welcoming with its pride flag, orange shirt, and handwritten land acknowledgment. Art by local artists is also displayed on the walls (that you can buy). I recommend trying their duck Eggs Benedict (they have other creative, unique combinations).

Second time coming here, food was amazing!! The atmosphere is especially nice on a weekday, as getting a table was quick! Even if you need to wait a little, the coffee shop next door is a very nice place to wait. Will definitely be back!

Had a very pleasant dining experience at this place. The server was very accommodating and incredibly friendly. The food was also tasty and arrived promptly. We sat outside, so I can't comment on the indoor location, but I can tell that the outdoor ambiance was very much welcoming and well curated. Prices were absolutely fair given the quantity of food per plate. Considering this was my first time eating here, I'd greatly recommend this diner.

Excellent! Absolutely the best brunch I’ve had in Ottawa hands down. I had the California kid Benny sub bacon instead of ham and my husband had the Bonanza breakfast highly recommend both. The servers are all very kind my server was Elissa and she gave excellent A++ service.

Staff was friendly and extremely considerate, even let us use a booth. I got the carnivore poutine, and have to recommend it to any meat lover. Inner decor is nostalgic, quality is very high. Kid-friendliness: They have board games and are extremely welcoming to all ages, very wholesome environment
