The church was established as a Christ-centred community. Next to the church, Holy Cross High School was present. The school also served as a space for meetings and teaching catechism. By 1984, the church had its first renovations and addition of stairs, deck, windows, and doors. Sept. 21st is celebrated as a special day, the feast of St. Matthew. With the fast-growing community, the church started serving 100 families yearly, and the count started growing yearly.
