Our old cedar fence and gate were falling apart so we decided to have them replaced with composite and aluminum materials. We thought the higher cost was well worth the investment. The new fence looks fantastic and we won't have the headache of having to stain or re-stain it in the coming years. It should be easy to keep clean with some gentle pressure washing and should last twice as long as a wood fence or longer. The kind people at Cypress were great about explaining the different options available and brought examples of the products to our house so we could pick a colour and pattern that fit in with the rest of our property. It was really interesting to watch the fence and gate being assembled. The modular design is very cool and the new fence was ready in under two days (including the removal of the old fence.) People walking by stop to give it a good look and some even touch the boards to see if they're wood or not! And we really like the keyed handle on the gate so we can lock it for more privacy.
