Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is a 13.4-hectare conservation area that has been a central focus for group activities. It is a heavily forested island with marshy areas on the park's south end that provide excellent nesting and feeding areas for local waterfowl. Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is a large green space with walking and equestrian trails, a disc golf course, and a military memorial. Visitors can also enjoy other amenities, including a stage for performing arts, playing fields, a mile-and-a-half hiking and biking track, and a nature park. The conservation area has groomed trails and a playground that draws tourists to stretch their legs and play. Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is also the spot for concerts and seasonal events in this scenic open space.

Rogers Reservoir Conservation Area is an 84-hectare site that is a great place to watch nesting birds and cycle along trails that are part of the Nokiidaa Trail system linking the towns of Aurora, Newmarket, and East Gwillimbury. The park has facilities for meetings, plantings, guided walks, and more. The concrete lock and swing bridge are remnants of a 'Ghost' canal system built and abandoned in the early 1900s. Parking is available at 1000 Green Lane East, Newmarket and 11 Mount Albert Sideroad, East Gwillimbury. Dogs are allowed in this park but must be on a leash.

2025 Update: Bailey Ecological Park is a 10-hectare oasis in the Town of Newmarket, a valuable bird and animal sanctuary featuring the East Holland River oxbow ponds, wetlands and forested areas. The Nokiidaa/Tom Taylor trail goes through Bailey Ecological Park, crossing under Mulock Drive and heading southwest towards Yonge Street. The trail, linking Aurora and East Gwillimbury, follows the East Holland River and provides opportunities to observe wildlife in the river and in adjacent wetlands. Parking is available at Wesley Brooks Conservation Area (Fairy Lake) or the Town of Newmarket office, with foot or bicycle access provided along the river under Mulock Drive. Bailey Ecological Park has a wheelchair accessibility entrance.
