“Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is a 13.4-hectare conservation area that has been a central focus for group activities. It is a heavily forested island with marshy areas on the park's south end that provide excellent nesting and feeding areas for local waterfowl. Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is a large green space with walking and equestrian trails, a disc golf course, and a military memorial. Visitors can also enjoy other amenities, including a stage for performing arts, playing fields, a mile-and-a-half hiking and biking track, and a nature park. The conservation area has groomed trails and a playground that draws tourists to stretch their legs and play. Wesley Brooks Conservation Area is also the spot for concerts and seasonal events in this scenic open space.

“Rogers Reservoir Conservation Area is an 84-hectare site that is a great place to watch nesting birds and cycle along trails that are part of the Nokiidaa Trail system linking the towns of Aurora, Newmarket, and East Gwillimbury. The park has facilities for meetings, plantings, guided walks, and more. The concrete lock and swing bridge are remnants of a 'Ghost' canal system built and abandoned in the early 1900s. Parking is available at 1000 Green Lane East, Newmarket and 11 Mount Albert Sideroad, East Gwillimbury. Dogs are allowed in this park but must be on a leash.

“2025 Update: Bailey Ecological Park is a 10-hectare oasis in the Town of Newmarket, a valuable bird and animal sanctuary featuring the East Holland River oxbow ponds, wetlands and forested areas. The Nokiidaa/Tom Taylor trail goes through Bailey Ecological Park, crossing under Mulock Drive and heading southwest towards Yonge Street. The trail, linking Aurora and East Gwillimbury, follows the East Holland River and provides opportunities to observe wildlife in the river and in adjacent wetlands. Parking is available at Wesley Brooks Conservation Area (Fairy Lake) or the Town of Newmarket office, with foot or bicycle access provided along the river under Mulock Drive. Bailey Ecological Park has a wheelchair accessibility entrance.”

WESLEY BROOKS CONSERVATION AREA REVIEWS

One of my favorite place ro walk during every season, it's beautiful and peaceful most days expect on the weekends. There are multiple trails which within the area and they all connect making it easy for a day outside discovering the different species that lives there. Beautiful spor for picnic.

I love going for my walks down on Main Street. And the ferry Lake trail, it's a nice, peaceful walk with lots of trees, and everybody's out. Barbecu ink in the standard's always very nice. And also every Thursday nights. They have a live band there which is awesome.

The trail is great for an easy stroll. Along the paved trail, there are many picnic areas. This park can get quite busy during the weekend.

ROGERS RESERVOIR CONSERVATION AREA REVIEWS

It’s a very nice and quiet trail, great for bikes or walking. Here you can spot different kinds of flowers, birds and bugs. We only went up to the bridge, it was too hot to keep going. I believe it’s a long trail, since it’s a big conservation area.There is a small parking lot available from Green Lane.

As part of my usual hiking/running trail that connects to the Tom Taylor Trail it is a natural beauty. If you're looking for a fresh scenic walkway with a small river flowing by your side this is the place to be. Great for relaxing while you take a stroll or run.

Such a nice trail and the new boardwalks along the old abandoned locks look amazing. The trail is on both sides of the river, so you may miss one of the trails (beside the golf course if you're not looking for it.) Definitely worth the bike ride or walk.

BAILEY ECOLOGICAL PARK REVIEWS

Gorgeous walk, tucked away just north of the 401, but you’d have a hard time believing it when trekking this beautiful remote forest filled with a variety of trees and a few nice water holes and a even a few waterfalls to discover just off the main trails! We started the trial at the north side of Mulock. There's a convenient parking lot there by the baseball field and steep hill. Walking south through Tom Taylor will get you here. The trail is very nice for walking or biking. There are a lot of bikers and is a good way to burn off an hour or two.

Very well maintained trail. Me and my husband visited this park last weekends from Richmond Hill. It was good for us to walk our dogs and I guess the park is connected to other huge parks. This time we just made a small circle but will definitely come back to walk more.
