“Jan Morgan is the owner of Paws-Itive Puppies, who is a certified, professional trainer and breeder of champion dogs, with over 30 years of experience working with families and their puppies. Her classes are held exclusively in veterinary clinics. They will cover nipping/biting/chasing pant legs, jumping up, teaching sit, down, polite door and street greeting, leave it, come, how to get your puppy to settle down, and proper leash walking techniques. They will also discuss respect, focus and understanding how to motivate your puppy to want to work for you. They will demonstrate easy, fun games with the purpose of teaching your puppy commands that even children can do. They conclude with their Best Puppy Trick Contest (including a prize for the winner!), lots of laughs and fun. All participants receive a certificate of completion. They discuss canine learning theory, the pack hierarchy and understanding social behaviour of dogs. They review how to evaluate appropriate puppy toys, offer positive interactions and solutions to create a healthy and peaceful puppy/child dynamic in your home and suggest some great games for kids and puppies to enjoy. They close with play time, an off-leash supervised fun period for the dogs. During the play time, they observe and describe proper play behaviours, interpret social posturing and when it is appropriate to interfere (or not) while dogs are socializing. They use only positive, gentle methods that are scientifically proven. Digital notes will be supplied. Puppy must have had one set of vaccines minimum, previously been examined by a veterinarian and be in good health, i.e., no coughing, sneezing, vomiting or diarrhea for 48 hours before attending. They do not have to receive all vaccines to attend. Attendance is four family members per puppy (children must be 8 years and older). Puppies should be on a six-foot leash, nylon or leather, not a Flexi or extendable type. Nylon collars or harnesses allowed.”
