Dr. Meera Luthra graduated from the University of Toronto. Dr. Meera also completed her Internal Medicine and Endocrinology training. She is an Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, McMaster University. She has a particular interest in endocrine disorders and diabetes. She also serves as the Medical Director of the Diabetes Program at SJHH and the citywide electives coordinator for Endocrinology. Dr. Hertzel C. Gerstein is an endocrinology specialist and who is a professor at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences. He is a director at the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Diabetes Care and Research Program, and Deputy Director of the Population Health Research Institute. Dr. Hertzel has pioneered the application of large-scale, easy outcome research to people with diabetes internationally, and has established the idea of dysglycemia as an important risk factor for many of the severe health effects that impact people with elevated levels of glucose independent of diabetes.
