“Dr. Edward Matsumoto graduated from the University of Toronto. He completed his fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Dr. Edward Matsumoto is an associate professor in the Division of Urology and the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. His urological practice is at St. Joseph's Healthcare. Dr. Edward Matsumoto's clinical interests are advanced laparoscopic surgery, including robotic radical prostatectomy and minimally invasive management of kidney cancers and stone disease. He was one of the first urologists in Ontario to perform Greenlight laser ablation for the prostate. His research interest in surgical education includes simulator and robotic training, surgical training methods and technical skills assessment. Dr. Edward Matsumoto has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and authored 12 chapters.

2025 Update: Dr. Edward Matsumoto has received over a quarter million dollars in peer-reviewed funding to date. He has been awarded numerous research prizes, including the AUA Essay Competition, NS-AUA Essay Competition, Jack Wyatt Research Competition, McMaster University Research Competition, Johnson and Johnson Research Competition and Wyeth-Ayerst Prize in Surgical Education/Epidemiology. He serves as the Program Director in the Urology Residency Program at McMaster University. Dr. Edward Matsumoto is the Director of the Robotics and Endourology Fellowship. St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton has hosted over 1000 major urologic procedures. The division features the 14,000 square feet McMaster Institute of Urology, located in their Mary Grace wing.”
